When Is the best time seasonally? I am newbie and I am just door knocking trying to get several location within each area of hunting to be able to make a day of it when I am out.

I will try mornings, afternoons and late evening just because might as well make it a full day just be out there and enjoy being out.

I am more concerned on the seasonal times that it starts, changes and ends. ( I know it can go year round but I would stop when their pups drop. Just my personal view and then Id' do more rabbit hunting.)

Thanks,

Prior to the breeding season during late fall to January. Once they start pairing off and doing their thing they can be tough to call in. Also once they start breeding the fur quality starts to wane from rubbing. I found they were really active here starting mid October and are coming into calls quite good right now. A buddy of mine called in 13 in 3 stands Christmas morning and put down 5.

The easiest times that Ive noticed, is fall/late fall when the young ones get kicked out of the family in the search of their own place in the world and breeding season when it starts to get territorial.

I find the late January into Feb. being the best time. That is mating season for the Eastern Coyote here in Ontario and more then often you can have a number of yotes coming in. I would think it depends on where you are hunting.

If fur isn't your goal. May. Adults are busy finding food for hungry pups. I've called quite a few in May doing predator control.

And as Grizzly says. When it's cold. Colder the better. With very little wind your call will go a long way when it's -34c, but you have to leave your panties at home.

If you just want to drive around and whack them. February when the breeding season is on.

Whack'm and stack'm. G

Thanks for all the tips. I am not worried about fur. I am just trying to learn how to use this fox pro properly and just get out there as much as I can.
