When is it time to chuck away your brass

The calibre, brand of brass and powder loads used may determine the signs of replacing brass. I have used 243 brass so many times that neck is worn so thin I cannot get a tight bullet fit, and there is no other signs of deffects.

You are looking for shiney rings around the case head, bulges, splits, loose primer pockets, excessive case length growth (has to come from somewhere and that is usually the web).

X2!! ......... Best reply yet!! :)

Brand: 4x with Federal and I have easy to insert primers, but Federal does't sell brass, they only want an accurate factory load.Norma, few times with warm, not max, loads I can't fit them in my shellholder. But if you are shooting starting loads and neck sizing, when you have a neck split. The last batch went 18.

I've got some Norma 308 brass that I've loaded dozens of times just to see how long I could keep going. I neck resize them only, moderate pressure to keep the primer pockets from loosening. When the necks start to work harden as indicated by the force needed to withdraw the expander ball, I anneal the necks with a propane torch with the cases standing in a pan of water.
