When is the next clay event?

Canadian Skeet shooting championships in Oshawa last weekend of July and Sporting Clays championships at Galt first weekend of August .

Give Frank a shout. Great guy. This shoot is geared towards new shooters. It was my first registered shoot and I make a point of going back each year. This is year three for me now.

Awesome ... depending on the direction you prefer to go, there are lots of clubs throwing targets outside of TO.

Do you want to just shoot targets or compete?

There are basically "registered" and "non-registered" targets. The three main ones are trap, skeet and sporting and to shoot registered targets, you join the US based organization and then compete where you want (mainly anywhere in North America) and they keep track of your scores. Registered targets are usually more expensive than non-registered.

There are lots of leagues and shoots in localized areas.

Emily Brown has compiled a list of all the clubs in Ontario throwing trap targets. You can contact Emily through the OPTA website ( http://ontariotrap.com/opta-board/ )

A wealth of information thank you! I am just interested in localized shoots right now so I will take a look at Ontariotrap.com. Sounds perfect for me to get started.

Hamilton and surrounding area have the silver horseshoe trap league and lower lakes skeet league. If you belong to one of the clubs you can shoot all five clubs in the league once a month. It's a non registered club vs club league that starts in sept and runs until march or April
