Where are all the 35 whelens and 350 Rem mags. Pic's anyone?

It's not a bolt but a 35 Whelen Ruger No.1. This has a 24" barrel with a 1-12 twist and topped with a Burris 2-7X. I just recently free floated the barrel.

Here's one I rebarrelled for my oldest son about 1-1/2 years ago. A left hand Ruger M77 Mark II stainless. It was originally a 30-06 in a laminate stock. Now it wears a 22-1/2" King barrel and a factory walnut handle. Since these pics were taken he now has a 2.5-8X matte Leupy on it in low matte rings. It's also been beadblasted to remove the Mark II shine.

I have a Remington Model 7 "Mannlicher" in 350 Remington Magnum. Wears a Burris 2-8. Nice and accurate. I'd post a pic, but I can't seem to navigate PhotoBucket anymore...
 


A 700 Classic .350 RM in a McMillan stock; EAW quick release swing mounts and 4x Nickel Supra; Tubb titanium speedlock striker; Canjar 3 lever.

Barrel break in was slow and easy - not sure how this barrel could be improved on. Shoots fine with optics and irons. Also premounted a 6x,42 Euro Zeiss that is pretty slick for stand shooting in low light.

The Nickel has a steel tube. Very tough..bright and excellent contrast. No. 4 reticle works fine. The "Running Deer" competitors seem to like Nickel .. I like the wide field of view, long eye relief and the fact that it holds its zero.

FWIW the McMillan stock is straighter than most and recoil seems quite low. With your eyes closed this stock comes up exactly where it should. The rifle is lively and light ... and anything it hits seems to go down right away. Sometimes hard to decide between this and a 7600 .35 Whelan that also never loses zero.

(at one point I had the set trigger shoe on the Canjar but not very practical for the field - when wearing gloves :D)

Edited to add: although this is strictly a hunting rifle ... I think anything that can be done to reduce locktime is a good thing. Most shots are standing and as often as not the position adopted is not ideal...a Remington 788 in 358 Winchester would be a dandy if the stock fits you and didnt "feel" too clubby.

The problem with your rifle Gunrunner is that its just a little too pretty to take into the bush :)

Mind you as I get older and spend more time trying to get closer to the stove - just looking at a rifle like that can make you feel like you've been hunting even if you've just been the hut slut.


reminds me of the scene from the Dirty Dozen when Sutherland says ... "Veerry Pretty Colonel!! But can they fight?!!?" :) :)
