where are guys getting sks now?

I only shoot Russian-made Barnaul now. It's non-corrosive and I've had very good results with it. As for corrosive surplus fodder... my best experience is with Czech-made stuff from the 1970's... but horribly dirty.

Yes the Cabelas deal was great. I got mine at the Kanata store. They let me look at quite a few before one of the staff said they had a few nicer ones in the back. The one he brought out was a 1954 refurb in a laminated stock. It was really nice so I grabbed it. Odd thing was it was all matching except for the magazine. And the mag had the 5 round pinning on the follower inside the mag. I didn't think they were doing that anymore.

My local CT is selling at $209. Look like Russian referb.

I just bought my first one at CDN Tire . 225.00 for wood stock, 257.00 for Super Grade ( Laminate Stock) .Hope I got a good one . They were low a week ago now they are jammed with a new load. ( Tula ) . Now time to start mods . Then I'll have to buy one to keep original .
