Where Are The Buyers?

No I didn't slag the seller. I wouldn't slag any of you guys either. I went to the gunsmith and got the one gun brought up to snuff and had a few other farkles and upgrades...and the other was a seller here in Edmonton. He had an old beater of a car, with a child seat in the back when we met to do the deal I saw that he was obviously hurting for money. I've been in that position myself - and it's just a chitty place to be - especially when you're young. I'm not going to kick somebody in a boat like that; and I doubt very strongly that guy sells a lot of guns. I later sold that one for a reasonable price to a close friend that likes to tinker. Today it shoots like a champ and he's spanked me at the range with it a couple of times...so it all worked out. Maybe it was just my imagination when I met him but he struck me as a good young man that was being forced to sell off his gun and wasn't doing it by choice.

It is all over the stickies, "buyer beware" and all that. It's my own fault, I have enough money to buy new and from here on out that is what I do. We all make mistakes, I don't buy or sell a lot and would hate to piss on somebody that didn't deserve it.

It's not about pissing on people that don't deserve it. That would be an abuse of the EE feedback system.
Sounds like one of your bad experiences was face to face so that's not really relevant specially if you decided to buy the gun despite there being undisclosed issues.

I guess I'm super lucky, haven't had a bad experience til my last purchase (from a retired cop go figure) the rifle was filthy there was green corrosion on the stainless box mag, rail had red crap stuck to it/the reciver and a huge scrape on the stock that was not disclosed. Nothing too major just more of a really? I spent 1450 on something that hasn't even been cleaned recently? Since that deal I've sold my first restricted and another rifle, I made sure it was in condition that I would want to recieve it in (clean). Makes you feel much much better about spending the money on a used firearm when it looks like new and functions perfectly.

Yeah...it was pretty much my fault I guess. But I saw that crappy car, I saw the cheap child's seat in it...and the look on the kids face as he sold that gun...maybe I got suckered and ripped off, maybe that money got that young fella out of a pinch at a time when he needed it. I hope so, when I was a kid I had to sell all my guns to buy baby food and diapers and back then - there was no CGN, just the local gun shops. They were mercenaries to deal with for the most part and I parted with a lot of good guns at rock bottom prices. If I spared some young fella that, at least - I will call it a win.

I got a double whammy out of it because the new owner rebuilt it from the ground up and he shoots like a house afire while I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a handful of gravel! The other one was my fault too, it was too good a deal to be legit so I got what I deserved there too! LOL. You guys would have done much better at that than I would, I suspect. I'm not b***ing because the best rifles and pistols I ever owned - were used. So I have had good experiences too. It all works out in the end.

No good deed goes unpunished!

Right on, at the end of the day your the captain of your ship One Lung Wonder, sounds like you have a good attitude.

Good for you OLW! I hope I would have done the same in your shoes.

You are a good Man, Sir.

You probably did Something good for a guy in need; Nothing wrong about that! You're a good person..

But the car doesn't make the man... I personally drive a semi-rusty '98 corolla... I just don't give a s**t, I'm just not into cars :)

I spend a lot of time on the EE, but have never purchased anything, mostly because as others have stated, you can buy new for cheaper or very close to the price being asked. I came close. Right before our dollar fell apart, there was a CZ 75 shadowmate with the red aluminum grips for sale for $1,400.00, and I really wanted it, but just didn't go through with it, even though it was BNIB and never fired. Funny that it reappeared a few weeks ago from the same seller, lightly used, for the new price of $1,800.00.

I take exceptional care of all my firearms, and am always worried that if I buy a used firearm, it will end up being something that has not been taken care of anywhere near the way I would take care of the rest of my firearms. If I was to buy used, it would have to be 40 to 50% lower than the cost of buying new. Everybody has different opinions of course, thats just the way I feel about used items.

Economy is a factor. Prices seem to be higher in ee as well these days, there is a used p320 for sale on ee that you could buy for 50 cheaper right now from Reliable. How does that make any kinda sense.

Doesn't come with 4 mags and you would still have to pay tax and shipping. I have my Sig Sauer P320 9mm with night sights and 4 mags 800 shipped. Is a solid deal. Mags are 60 a pop before tax and shipping.

You can tell a lot about a man by the car he drives, and the shoes he wears...

It has been a very slow last few months in the EE. There's a lot of new product listed each day, far more than what is selling. What's the reason? Poor economy? Recession? Pre election fears? Maybe all of the above. The lowballers are having a hay day.

Speaking only for myself, I'm generally still finding unrealistic prices on a lot of things. Just yesterday I saw something in the EE that I was tempted by but the price seemed excessive. Sure enough, I went to my local gunatorium and a BNIB item cost about 20% cheaper (which I ended up buying).

I'm tempted to pull out the advanced stats classes I took in university to see if there is a correlation between the number of thread bumps and how ill-priced something initially is as compared to its final selling price.

I'm brand new to using the EE. But I posted and sold a rifle and shotgun within 12 hours of putting it up sold both this week. I find that a lot of things are priced the same as new for a used item.

should have a thread on "highballers" someone just tried to sell me an item which cost more than new and is current production. guess when people are trolling for either high or low prices you won't see much fairness either way. greed goes both ways.
