Its been a while since Ive seen a Glock gen 1 posted up for sale.

After some digging, I saw that the prices have just skyrocketed in the past few years. From $800 in 2014 to $.... 3000 USD in 2020? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/869646319

If anyone finds one, please let me know! I would like to find one for collector's sake.

I find it so fascinating that Glock hasn't change their basic design since the 1980's. In the upcoming generations, they only added texturing, and a few slight internal upgrades for safety and reliability.

What are your thoughts on the price rise and the history of these glocks?

I have one, and it has run 40000 plus rounds by me, and I bought it used.
Never cleaned it, just ran a dry brush down the barrel.
Never once had a problem firing, front sight fell off I had to epoxy it back on.
Other than that, I have been trying my best to wear it out, but no dice. It has been the most reliable piece of kit ever. Dropped it in the sand a few times doing IDPA, beat it off on the side of my boot, and good to go.(Try that with a 1911)
I like the newer Gens as well, but just never needed to buy one yet.

I had one, just sold it this past year. You wont get the prices up here for them as for what they're going for down south. They've really only exploded in price as a collectors item in the past year or two anyway, and even then the price depends on how low the serial number is, or maybe it's an L, pencil barrel etc.

Like McDonalds toys (made of plastic). Originally of little value so not many surviving specimens in pristine condition drives up price for those that desire items from the past

Glocks as collectibles ... impressive. Lucky me, I have a Gen 1 :)

I also have a Glock 17, as for the 40,000 plus rounds that you manage to shoot without any issues, are you one of the lucky owners or is that really the norm for Glock 17s?

I have never had a stoppage with my 34 now that I think about it. The brits back in around 2017 went overseas for a pistol competition. They had no stoppages with the g17 despite shooting tens of thousands of rounds... Canadian on the other hand...
