I have noticed the 44 mag and the 50AE versions come up for sale on the EE but haven't seen any in 357. Are all the owners holding on to them or are there not that many out there and that's why you don't see them on here?

This is very, very speculative on my part. But my guess would be that .357 being the most affordable means they get shot more frequently than their 44 or 50 counterparts. In turn fewer of them get dumped. Similarly I feel like I see 44 magnuns up for sale more often than 50's. My theory on that is that a 50 is probably more easy to keep around for pure novelty sake than a 44 is.

could of/should of bought one off a friend 25 years ago for $650. It's still on the wish list to have one but it's down the list a couple. Just wanted to question the sale of them as you see a variety of pistols come up for sale but you don't see these come up .

Everybody already has .357 revolvers. So no one buys .357 Desert Eagles. If I was ever to by DE, not that I ever would, it would be for the big boy rounds. Not the .357 wich I already own and shoot. That is my guess.

The .357 is a bit cheaper and has less recoil, so it's a lot nicer to shoot than the .44 or .50AE. They're also not as common as the .44 or .50AE and tend to get snapped up quickly.
I've got a .44 Desert Eagle and it's quite pleasant to shoot...much more so than .357 Magnum through a revolver. I'm thinking that there are not that many .37 DEs around.

Why not just buy whatever comes up, and then buy a .357 kit? You just need a barrel, mag, and bolt. Then you have the best of both worlds, and the cheaper .357 shooting will pay for the kit in no time.

:)

Yup. Why even buy it for .44??

"And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five oh.... Written down the side of mine... Should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence. Now... F**k off!"

Because it's like buying a v6 mustang and nobody wants to admit they have one

I think there are just not many around. The 357 mag chambering was the sole chambering for only about 5 years in the mid 80's. They were pretty rare and hard to find at that time. By the time production (and demand in part due to film exposure) really picked up, they were making them in 44 and then 50. As others mention, once the big calibres arrived, I suspect there was very limited demand for the 357.

I still wish they made them in the 440 Corbon. That was a cool cartridge.

If you want a .357 semi, get the Coonan. The only calibre to get the Deagle is......well here is mine:p

Had one of the first MK VII in .357, it was nice and a head turner at the range but stout 158+gr hot Magnum ammo was required to cycle properly, also had a lot of FTF with flat nose bullets, lead was also a no go as it got stuck on the feed ramp out of the mag and caused the pistol to jam. When it actually cycled & feed properly, it was pleasant to shoot, the hottest magnums felt like mild .38 specials out if a 6" full lug revolver.

Sold it for cheap as I was sick and tired of issues with it being picky with ammo and unreliable.

Now this has got to be one of the best movie lines ever. Now I need to go watch snatch again. It has been way too long.

I never look at a pig farmer the same way since I've seen that movie years ago.

I owned the 44Mag in the past and it was very picky on ammo. I now have a 50AE and it runs 100%, even without follow MRI dumb push and pull hold style. The 50AE is so much fun to shoot, a tack driver and not pricey at all if you handload.

Unless you're able to handled hot 357mag, don't even bother.
