I have recently aquired a Marlin 1894 in 38-40 and am wondering where in Canada I can buy the ammo for it. I know that there are several manufactures that make the 180 grain bullet for use in pistols but I haven't seen any for sale. Also does anyone know if anybody still manufactures the rifle bullet (which I think was a 260 grain load)?

Thanks!

Winchester is a seasonal run only. Only in a 180 grain SP too.
Epp's lists it. No prices or brand on their site. Marstar lists Winchester at $59.75 per 50. Their site indicates they have it in stock. Shooter's Choice in Waterloo, wants $80.95
Where you are matters. Shipping ammo is expensive. Your best bet is reloading.

If you have the loading dies for 38-40, you should be able to reform 44-40 shells fairly easily; I would expect empty brass might be easier to get in 44-40

I do not recall there being a "heavy" 260 gr. avail. in a factory offing, the orig. BP loads where 180 gr. and meant for both the rifle and six-gun, some folks brought out a Hi-vel. smokeless load but dropped it for fear of old guns blowing up. The 260 grain bullets that I make would prolly make the cart. too long to function, though I haven't tried it or done the math. The best bullet would be a 180-200 gr. soft cast bullet with a crimp groove and not a hardcast bullet meant for the .40 cal. autoloaders that don't feature a crimp groove.
