Where can I buy 9mm Montana Gold bullets ?

FWIW, a friend of mine had cases of Montana Gold bullets in .40 S&W and .45 ACP and they all miked out as being slightly undersized.

He wasn't too happy with that realization, but was just using them for cheap plinking reloads.

I'm not sure how finicky you are, but I'd pick a better bullet unless they are properly sized.

Thanks, please recommend me a better
bullet then for 9MM.

I'm afraid I can't, as I haven't even started reloading yet. But there are a lot of guys on here who could steer you in the right direction.

I'm also going off of secondhand information, but I thought I would tell you what I heard so you would have some food for thought.

Maybe some of the more experienced guys here have used the Montana Gold's with good success, or can recommend something better.

Good luck!

Robert,

Since Canadian BDX are making thier own 124's and planning on releasing thier own 147gr this summer :(, finding the Montana Golds they used to import might be a problem.

I'm looking forward to the BDX 147's.

The M.G. Bullets are top notch...but sadly are no longer available in Canada as the importer (BDX) can no longer get them.
I believe M.G. Are concentrating on their domestic U.S. Market.
Not sure if the above info is current, but that is my understanding as of a year + ago.

Aim has tooled up with their plated lead bullets and Canadian BDX are now producing their own line -both of which should be able to suit your needs.

Doesn't that guy Wolfe from outside Kingston have/make/supply plated bullets? I've used 1'000's 0f his hard cast lead in 38, 9mm and 45 and they all shoot very accurately.

I used to be a big fan of the MG 180 .40 cal FMJ and HP bullets. Ran several thousand through my 10mms. You'll only find them in private hands now unless a dealer has some left over.

Sorry, but jacketed bullets (Montana Gold) do not compare with plated bullets.

Montana Gold are top-end Jacketed bullets too. Plain old Winchester Jacketed don't really compare.

Proper replacement for a Montana Gold would be a Zero (I think Doubletaps getting them) or Hornady. (Higginson?) Another option is the new jacketed bullets from BDX. I've tried them with pretty good success. Kurt is basically trying to make is own Canadian version of the Montana Gold and having pretty good success.

The lesser price of the plateds makes them an excellent option for practice, but for that nice tight 50m group, give me a jacketed bullet any day.
