I need a 30 06 Finishing Reamer. Anywhere in Canada to get one ?
It dont need to be New, just sharp its for one Job.

I've not seen many reamers at all, available in Canada. I've looked, too.

Last '06 reamer I saw looked like it had been stored in a toilet. Guy still figured it was worth $25, though.

There was a fairly long list of reamers for sale from a guy that posted on 6mmBR.com in the forums.
If he has what you need, it'll be about the same price as renting, all said and done.
If it still works when you are done with it, it'll probably still sell for more than you paid. :)

Cheers

"...loaded dummy round and a roll of tape...look into head space gages(sic)..." Ahem! Cases and bits of tape indeed. Brownell's. About $30US each. You'll need the No-Go and a Field.
4-D sells 'em too, but they're kind of pricey for a one time job.
"...rent to one..." Geezuz, Sunray. Proofread! snicker.

He's cuting a chamber for gods sakes, give him the right info.

Go gage is what you want to check headspace, ream till it just closes on a go gage and you are good to go.

"...Go gage is what you want to check headspace..." Using just the Go doesn't tell you if the headspace is too high. The Go is used when installing a new barrel. It tells you if the headspace is within minimum tolerance. The No-Go for high end of tolerance. The Field is maximum tolerance. A bolt must close on the Go, but not on the No-Go. However, if you ream a tick too much, the Field will tell you if you've wrecked the barrel altogether. The bolt must not close on a Field, ever.

OK Sunray what i have is a NEW 30 06 Chambered Barrel screwed onto the FN 49 Receiver. Its allready Chambered in 30 06
Now its a NEW barrel not the Orignal one.
I can take it off again no Problem.
With it all together the bolt closes and drops down like it should on a Factory 30 06 round (fireing pin is Removed from Bolt) but is about 1/32 from going all the way down onto the locking Shoulder. Its almost there but not Quite its very tight in this locked postion.

It needs to have the Chamber slightly Reamed deeper a few tho.

so if i have a GO gage and just do a couple tho reaming then try it ect till it closes compleatly on the go Gage id be AOK Right :)

I could just buy a pile of New locking Shoulders till i get the Right one BUT Reaming a tad deeper should also work i figger and were not talking much reaming here.

But i really need a GO gage to be certin im good.

possibly try taking a shell gluing a stick to the end, then put some polishing compound on the shoulder, and give it a few twists, clean it out then try the headspace. I know really bush, but it may work.

You got the picture, Buying a Field and a no-go is a waste of money, unless you want to have them onhand to check other rifles chambers in the future.
