I ordered a Gorka on eBay a couple weeks before the war started and thought damn it is never going to get here now... It showed up in April safe and sound.

Dont know about Bars but Mordor tec ones are available at https://grey-shop.ru/ . They ship straight out of Moscow. Got mine in digi flora maybe a month ago. Took less than a week and a half to get it. Quality is on par if not better than old SSO Gorkas, SSO quality went down but I do have OG Gorka from early 00's so I compared Mordor to that one. Mordor kit that is being used by RF troops so it's legit. Doesnt glow in the dark through NVG.

I got one of these years ago and never wore it. Might put it up for sale if you're interested. Size is like a medium regular and it's the genuine SPOSN brand, which is the official supplier to many Russian units unlike the BARS stuff which is a lower-grade knock off.

If its old SSO run than its really good. Like I said, have mine since maybe 2004-2005. Its seen more abuse than anything I own when it comes to camo. All these years spent doing airsoft, hacking through dense bush, doing all sorts of crazy stuff. It’s still good. Cant kill it. I stitch up small tears/spots where ambers got it and just keep going but even old SPOSN runs are not are good looking as new Mordor stuff. I also have old run of Smersh rig from SPOSN, which is also almost indestructible so before getting new gorka I spoke to the vendor from grey shop. He said SSO quality went down and price went up, so I went with Mordor Tec one. I havent got to test it in field conditions yet but I did notice that Mordor gorka is a lot heavier than SSO one. They did a lot more reenforcing which I think might cause problems during summer. SSO gorka is thinner but still hell to wear in hot weather and trying to dry it out after it gets soaked right through. Huge minus for gorkas. When its new it takes forever to get it soaked but once water gets through you are litterally screwed. Bars brand is kind of meh in my opinion. Even though they come with attachable underliner, still, go old SSO or Mordor or go home. If anybody is interested I can take pictures of old SSO compared to new Mordor. I also got other stuff from them. Soft shell jacket on sale for $20, it was on sale. Stood under pouring rain smoking, could feel the cold but water was just rolling off of it. T-shirt underneath was bone dry when I got inside and of course I couldnt pass getting “addidas” style track suit with white stripes but in Russian camo lol Digi flora was out of stock so I went with russ Oakleaf.

Thanks for the input, im really on the fence about mordor. I like to buy thing with a good track record, I know the bars was appreciated by the troops and I like the look. That why I was going for it. Mordor initially seem like a knock off that claim to be better, but wasnt as largely tested as the real bars. I wouldnt hate a comparison between the old sso and the new mordor if you dont mind. What was the jacket you from them?

I might be, im not familiar with the variation of the bars.

Here. Oakleaf is old SSO run gorka. As you can see there is very minor damage to it, mostly from ambers and material is just getting a bit thin from wearing it. That damage is around wrist areas. Well, elastic strings around wrists also gave up but after many years of use. That thing is covered with paint, my blood, fish blood, racoon blood, squirrel blood, motor oil, silicone and other substances that add camouflage to it lol. When Im outdoors thats what I wear and Im outdoors quite often. I do believe originally it was a lot darker, insides are, sun and rain made it a lot lighter but camo parts stayed pretty much the same except for knees. It got dark. Reason - believe it or not, I never washed it once, not in the machine. Hand wash in a bucket or leaving it under the rain over night and drying in the sun. Dont ever machine wash gorkas. Oh, top pants pockets are “fake” on SSO set compared to “real” on Mordor. They are go-through like on some camo oversuits like US nightstalker from 90’s. Like I said, Mordor set seems to be heavier, not the jacket but pants. It just weights more when I grab both in my hands. Maybe its just me. Mordor pants have suspender attachments and elastic bands on the bottom so it can be put under the foot to prevent pants from riding up. SSO doesnt. I know Bars does. SSO has ankle strings similar to German WW2 pants. Havent checked SSO under NVG but Mordor material doesnt glow, so its milspec. Plus it has bunch of modern things like velcro. I added that stuff of my SSO gorka. It’s too old for “tacticool” shayt. Lol Took some pictures of the jacket. It was on sale and they didnt have anything else but MC in my size so I grabbed that. And of course the “gopnik” track suit. No real gopnik can live without one, especially in Russian oakleaf. I wanted digi flora but again, out of stock in my size. I'd say if you dont require all the modern bells and whistles but just a reliable piece of kit that will last for a very long time than go with what is in Canada, price depending. I actually had two sets from SSO. One came in in Russian DPM, I #####ed them out and they sent me what I ordered. I got to keep DPM set. Sold it to some dude in France over Ebay. Still regretting selling it. Um, another thing I suggest doing is getting a set 1 size larger than what you normally wear depending on what you are planing to use it for. My old one is large enough to wear level 3 vest with a wool sweater under it. SSO sets might've been designed for that same reason, to used as oversuits, hence false pockets on their pants. I've used it before during airsoft. Reached in, all the way to cargo pocket of my pants I had under the suit, grab a very small pistol I had there or off of a drop leg and shoot a person who just searched me and deemed it safe. https://freeimage.host/i/Uysfja

Very interesting. How would rate the water resistance of each other? Wich one would you say is the best. I plan on using it for my hunting prep.
I havent tested Mordor stuff yet. Just some rain while I was having a smoke. Nothing got through it same as with SSO stuff when it was new. You would still need to have a good waterproof layer when in comes to gorka. Again, when its soaked its soaked and will take a long time to dry unless you take it off and put it on a tree brunch in boiling hot weather. I had SSO gorka dry up on me while I was wearing it under the rig and a set of armour. Very unpleasant. If you want really good water resistant stuff dont go gorka, go other options which offer more water resistance. If I was planing to use it just for that Id stick to more conventional stuff. Might be not as durable as gorka but definitely more water resistant.

It's not a high performance garment by any means. It's a heavy canvas with some reinforced parts, so it's heavy, doesn't breathe well, you overheat quite easily in it, doesn't have much water repellence, will stay wet for a long time and is only somewhat wind resistant.
You can get surplus pieces of the US PCU system if you want a decent technical outdoors outfit, get the Gorka only as a novelty. Or any ascent/trek gear from the modern commercial performance brands will be lightyears ahead.
