Where can I find....

Where in Canada can I find the 3 missing lock screws for my FN 49.


I know Numerich has them, but they charge $40 US for shipping alone.

just verified, the mouser locking screws have a considerably wider screw head.

Tradex or Epps might have. Give Epps a call. They have all sorts of stuff not listed on their site.

Look for a supplier of fasteners.

Toronto should have a number of fastener companies and they will carry metric screws.

For example Acklands-Grainger has a number of branches in Toronto.

"Pocketfisherman", who is a CGN member, has been selling adjustable gas plugs similar to the McCann version. They work well.

They should not be too hard to find or to make , I took mine out of my (Argentine) FN49 and measured them for you-- thread 3mm,lenght of thread 4mm, overall length 7mm,diameter of head 5.5 mm, head is 2.3 mm high.
Acklands or Bolt Supply might have something close.

My Argy has two different size locking screws.
I'll measure a little later tonight.

Instead of just measuring, I went ahead and tried it.

Original screws on the paper.
Used 2 M3x.50x 6mm SHCS available from hobby stores in RC car section.
One for mid position head need to be reduced in diameter to fit in countersink hole in floorplate.
Did not remove crescent shape in front screw.

Replacement M3 SHCS in front position , no modification need to screw.

Replacement with M3 SHCS in mid position, with ground down head diameter to fit smaller counter sink in floor plate.

My 7mm FN49 rear action screw has no locking screw machining.

PM me if you want these SHCS.
Used a 2.5mm hex key for these M3 screws.

Good work. They could also be filled and slotted very easily.
