I've got an old Tikka M658 with Maple stock with a new heavy barrel. I know that Tikka has a synthetic replacement stock, but I am told that if you try and groove it out a bit to fit the new barrel some rigidity "strength " would be lost. Does anybody in Canada make custom synthetic stocks?

If you are just opening the barrel channel to allow for a new barrel there should be no problem with weakening the stock. However if you have your heart set on synthetic by all means go with a Robertson.

you can get them made lighter. Remember these are not you hollow tupperware stocks. The balance of the Robertson hunting stock is so nice you won't even know it might weigh a bit more than your average walnut one.

Yes, I know they are not Tupperware ones, but Bansners run about 21 oz, Macmillan Edge about the same...50+ oz for the Robertson seems heavy.

I sent an email asking about it to Robertson a couple of days ago, but no repsonse yet.:)

i have communicated with robertsons re the weight. they told me weight is optional as the could do me a stock for a rem mountain rifle at 22 to 23 ozs with a pacmyre decelorator pad complete with molded in colour.

Cool..

Maybe I will try emailin again after the weekend.

Any idea how long a Robertson stock liek that would take?

I was thinking of restocking my SF Sendero with something that has a raised cheakpiece. Robertson makes one advertised at 22 ounces. Perhaps a little light for my 300 ultra mag with the heavier barrel though., might be really nose heavy.

I've tried to get on their website for a week or so and no luck, are they still in business?

I was on thier website afew days ago, no respose from email yet, but I am reasonably sure they are still in business!!

i assume it's a small operation,a nd thewill take some time to return my email. no worries...

I have tried getting in touch with Robertson a few times and never heard a peep back. I tried email and PM's. The more I deal with people in the firearms (and firearms related) industry the I'm getting used being treated like an annoyance rather than a customer.
