Just getting into reloading, and not knowing how much force should be used, of course I buggered not one, but two zip spindles/decapping pins on my Hornady dies. I've seen in every other developed nation (US, UK, Australia, etc) you can get the "Hornady Die Maintenance Kit". Nowhere online I can find will ship to Canada, and it's just incredibly frustrating!

So, where the heck can I find parts for this, or do I need to get new die sets?

Hmm, good idea, I just sent them an email detailing the frustration of not being able to get the parts anywhere. Maybe they can set me up with a direct sale or something.

The kit costs around $10-15 USD, and I was perfectly willing to spend near $50 with shipping and everything, and yet no retailer could do it for me.

I just did exactly the same thing ("not one, but two zip spindles/decapping pins on my Hornady dies")...had some Berdan primed brass mixed in the lot...should have been paying more attention...I'll be calling Hornady early next week.

Pick one or go directly to Hornady's customer service. 800-338-3220

I phoned Hornady....

..I explained that it was entirely my own fault, that I wasn't paying enough attention and that I had tried to resize Berdan brass and broke the zip spindles and decapping pins...twice...with both my 6.5x55 Scandinavian and my 6.5x54 MS dies. All completely my own fault.

...they replied by telling me that "as a courtesy" they would replace all the parts that I broke and send them to me, all for free. The package arrived yesterday in a box via USPS Priority Mail. It cost them $21.95 (US) ($28.78 Can.) just in postage to send the parts, which include a brand new complete Zip Spindle kit plus another pack with all sorts of expanders, pins, threaded rod, etc.

Shipping and parts...all for free.

Incredible service. Recall that I told them this was not a warranty issue, that the damage was completely my own fault and that I was willing to pay for the replacement parts.

My next die set will be Hornady.

Once time I ordered Hornady dies and when they showed up the box was cracked (obviously in shipping). I contacted them and they even replaced the die box. Great service.
