Okay so I made my own hand guard mount for my sons SKS. He bought a red dot and wanted it mounted up front.... well after 3 shots, i figured my 12" group at 50 yards was due to poor construction of the mount.

So I would like to find something similar to this picture, from Canada preferably or a Canada friendly dealer.

Can you tell me where to look?

yeah thats the one, thanks. Seems like that Charles guy is trying to sell alot of stuff on here but has no info or website... hint hint.

I bought the handguard mount in the first post.... It was a file to fit item (this is a good thing) and I had it fitting as tight as could be.

As soon as I started shooting the metal heats up and the thing is floppy as a .... well a floppy thing indeed!

This mount is junk in my opinion, it's not even stable enough for a red dot. I do, however use it as a replacement gas tube with the rail part removed. I like the sleeker look. I put a piece of the rail on the bottom of my stock to mount a bi-pod.

Okay i'm lost then, how do i mount the damn red dot on my kids SKS?? The reciever cover ones are junk from what i hear and the gas tube doesn't sound much better. Sooooo whats left? replace the rear sight with a mount i guess.

You have to drill into the receiver and mount a choate mount. I believe teapot2 (dealer here) will soon have red dot scope mounts as well for the SKS.

Marstar has the scout mount that replaces the rear sight. I love mine. I have a red dot and have never lost zero. They say you can remove the mount for cleaning and keep zero. I haven't tested that yet.

Westly's Surplus in New Westminister has them. Also he is going to get some other goodies for the sks @ the end of next month.

Another CGN'er suggested this:
h ttp://scoutscopes.com/index.html

It's not too pricey and allows the scope to be removed and reinstalled without losing zero. Just don't know if they ship here.
