Where can I try some handguns?

Basically along with the suggestions here I recommend joining a local club/range. You'll have to anyway if you want to get into handguns.

Then most members will have some and be happy to let you try them out.

I'm about 2 hours east of Toronto if you want to come out this way and try some toys. I'm not that familliar with clubs in the GTA so I can't recommend which one would best suit you.

Hi hgeo33,
You can try this place : http://www.niagaragunrange.com/ It's not in Ontario but should not be to far for you.
There seems to be lots of places in the U.S. I just came back from vacation in New Hampshire and stopped in a range. We rented a couple of 357 revolvers and a .45 Springfield. I'm new to the sport and figured this is the best way to try things out, the wife and I had a blast. Met 2 folks there and this one guy gave us his .22 ruger with a box of ammo to try. Also got to fire another persons AR15 while I was there. Sure are friendly folk them gun owners.

No deal! Did you check out the videos? hehe. The savage video is new, nobody's seen me load and sink 20 rounds out of it yet... hehe.

A flawless functioning magazine! hehe. It's surplus ammo, so who cares for now. When I'm ready to shoot for accuracy, i'll use my "match" barrel :D

I was getting .69" CTC 5 groups all day long with federal gold medal match, about 1.25" groups with surplus.

Who did the Mag modification?

ME ME ME! Hehe. It's a custom built from scratch 20rd mag, and the conversion to make your savage take a home made mag is easy. Just don't un-pin an M14 mag and try and use it, it's a VERY grey area.

For the money it would cost me to go to Vegas or Edmonton I may as well just get my licence and buy a gun !

There are a couple of handgun ranges around. I may give them a call and see if someone will allow me to shoot with them.

When are these meets you guys are refering to?

It's too bad you can't get to Edmonton. I just got back from wild west in West Ed. Blew waaaayyy too much money shooting the .44 mag. Felt like dirty Harry. :D
