Where did the Canadian army FNs go?

I loved the FN as well (and still love the ones I own). Having said that though, I still would not like having someone smash me in the face with a C7 (or anything else for that matter).

I'd hate to be the one with the plasma cutter in their hands.
Even dewating them in this situation would be better than melting them down. Think...If they dewatted them and sold em off for $200 they could have an extra $13 or $14 million for their budget...but then again they'd probably flood the market.

Lord no. On a night-ex clearing patrol, a buddy of mine butt-stroked one of the en-force guys at close quarters during a chance contact. Turned out to be ANOTHER good friend who caught the brunt. Cost a bit in dental work to repair the damage.

Goes x10 for STUPID comments about how the 5.56mm round is "underpowered" and how the shorty m1a loses "too much energy"

Yep. Anyone remember the big stink at the bridge in Mitrovica in Kosovo?
One of the troops from Recce Sqn RCD hit a guy with the butt of a C8 and knocked quite a few teeth out of his head before the guy fell out cold to the ground. Needless to say there was 1 less "protestor" on the bridge the next day:D :D

Lots of guys don't hesitate hitting someone with a fist thinking that their hand is the end all be all but think that the butt of an AR won't do the job.:confused:

I remember a fella just tearing the ground up about 30 feet in front of the firing point,LOL , and I did laugh a bunch, the RSO was pretty pissed, I just watched as it wanted to go airborne a few times. Very cool stuff.:D The gunner got an ear full:)

Miss the C1 but do not miss the C2 (which I ended up carrying more often than not). It's been many years... so at the risk of sounding like an idiot my recollection is that we were issued with the 30 round mags (not 20 as per C1) - which were just a bit too long to keep out of the dirt if you were firing up a hill, we had the pleasure of wearing a 'bra' for the C2 mags (vs. C1 pouches on the webbing). The bi-pod spontaneously 'deployed' during pepper-potting and at other inconvenient times (reminscent of those embarrasing adolescent erections...), and you didn't want to grab that barrel without the forestock (see 'inconvenient' above). As for being out of control on rock-and-roll.. they were - heavier barrel & bipod aside, not much more effective than a runaway C1 that's decided to go full auto. Of course being the C2 'gunner' wasn't nearly as bad as being the guy next door in the hot-casing hail storm.

LOL You're the first guy in a long time that I have seen post all the reasons why a automatic rifle is bad without getting caught up in the nostalgia of the FN.

Don't get me wrong, I love(d) the FN, but you hit every nail on the head.

But by the summer there will be none left in Canada. All have been ordered destroyed. The C5s in storage are now all destroyed as well. We are working to get some saved to be OPFOR weapons but the "system" is not happy with the idea.....
