But by the summer there will be none left in Canada. All have been ordered destroyed. The C5s in storage are now all destroyed as well. We are working to get some saved to be OPFOR weapons but the "system" is not happy with the idea.....

Not completely gone fellas, some of the guys working out at the Cold Lake Air Weapons range tell me they keep C1A1s around for bear protection. Also there are a few No4 303s for the same reason.

That maybe the case, but once they are all destroyed, there are not parts nor maintenance/replacements. One there gone, there gone...

I did alot of humping thru the boonies in the early seventys with a C2,when I was not packing the GPMG.
Now I am retired and take my FN out for the odd day, that is before these stupid goverment rules.

There is reportedly a very large stock of FN's at Windsor park , still packed in the grease, ,I have even heard that there was several cases of ww2 era lee enfields ....

Hey, wait a minute. These are taxpayers' asset & not the government. We need a debate in the House of Commons before the C1s go to the smelter. Jack the grand standing Layton, where are you when there is a real issue that needs debating in our Parliament?

Deckard how could you post such a blasphemous pic :( ?

you see the Mauser on the right?
It is indeed blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is to us what images with "Vietnam era casualities" were for the so-stoned-beyond-belief generation of the sixties.
Nobody wandered if the child was actually hit by the americans or by the vietcong..... or how a reporter can film such tragic scenes without helping.....

Nobody wandered how many lives those rifles saved. An instrument of evil ?
The why don't we go after the evil and leave the instruments for our use.... we look so cute with them !

what's next? ban the brand of wine the bad guys are drinking?
or the meat? we better like pork chops then !!!!

You know, it makes no sense to me. We would rather destroy these then put them on the market for civilian purchase, and allow revenue generation/cost recovery whatever. Fine, right, no FA allowed. Then what about the US market at least? Instead of taking an opportunity to recover cost, our government would rather destroy the tools that served us for many years, and continue to ass ream us with taxes. Yeah, thanks you turds...much appreciated. I often wonder, how much longer will I call myself Canadian?

The best assault rifles in the world are accurized AKM' using COR BON 7.62x39
Ask any Iraq vet.

Yup. or in the original variant, the FN FAL a light automatic rifle.
Of course 7.62 NATO is too powerful for a good LAR which is why it was originally designed in a calibre that looked very much like the 6.5 Grendel or the Lapua 6.5x47.

The FNC1A1 was king of the crop in it's day,but that has passed.Nostalgia aside the FN isn't close to being as versitile as the C7/C8 family, nor is it as reliable under all conditions as the C7. I loved mine when I was issued one,so much that I bought one (a nice 8L series) but wouldn't carry one today.
