Hey, I have a shockwave I put an SGA stock on, a red dot and a streamlight tl racker fore end. I want to have spare batteries so any suggestions on a spot to keep them on the gun? It's too bad there isn't a compartment in the stock for them or maybe something that attaches to the sling loop I'm not using? I need to carry two 123 batteries and a 2032.

Thanks!

You need to find someone with a 3d printer and some imagination to make a replacement cheek rest with a storage compartment.
Just a rough idea , Since it hooks in at the front, you could rig a button or lever at the back to lock it in .
If you run a side saddle, you could make a tube for the cr123 batteries to fit in that .

I sent Magpul a product suggestion to make something I could attach to the sling loop that isn’t being used and they actually got back to me pretty quickly. I’ve sent the idea for one in the cheek riser as well. Great idea.

This could work ,Thyrm’s CellVault , just need to figure out a way to attach it to the gun , some kind of molle straps , ether velcroed to the stock or receiver , might even work on a strap through the sling point or on a sling , if you run one on your gun .

Wonder about burning a couple of slots the front hand strap, just a thought.

I realise it's not ideal, but without storage space on the firearm, the logical thing to do is to develop a military style battle belt to carry them in, along of course with extra shells etc. The trick is to always have the belt with you when you have the gun, so you might not want to go full out GI Joe, but this random video explains the general principal:

A simple sturdy belt will do, a rigger's belt is ideal. Now that the 18 year war is over I can't recommend too many sources but the 5.11 stores have a good selection of pouches as far as Canada goes. Some online research will no doubt turn up others.

Just wondering, How often do you need these batts ? As above, pants pocket; Coat, Range Bag, Ammo pouch - I've saved dozens of old 35mm film canisters for small parts like this.

As for me, I have more of an issue with the spares aging out than with running down the batteries in the sights. In those cases, it pays to buy lithiums.

Something like this? It come with a pouch on the side

Have on on a Scout setup and work great but it's not exactly this one

I carry this gun when I'm bow hunting for Yogi defence so I'd like the spares to always be there rather than having to worry about remembering to pack them.

To avoid the batteries getting old I usually use the spares when the ones in the light die and I replace the spares so I'm always cycling through them.

This might be a good option or a pouch on the sling. I have something like this on my hunting rifle as well and it is great but a lot bigger than I need. I would probably find extra stuff to pack if I used this and my stuff is heavy enough already lol

The batteries are the only extra thing I want to carry. My pack is convertible so if I’m packing meat I can take the bag off and just use the frame. I just want to set it up so all I can forget is ammo ;)
Anyone know of a good sling that has a small pocket? That might be the easiest and least intrusive thing to do.

I use Velcro sidesaddles on my 590a1 14”. It has 6 shell loops. I’ve sewn the last loop to hold CR123s and I’ve also sewn a nylon elastic sleeve that slides over my sling, as an alternative; holds 2 batteries.
