Where do we line up ?

Just wondering how the #4s, the spares and the ammo that the rangers are issued will be disposed of when the replacement rifles arrive?

If they are Govt issue they will be chopped ,melted, ground up and probably sent into space before they come to civilian hands . If you are quick you may be able to get them as scrap metal off of GC surplus /crown assets.

Stephen Harper is our friend, & wants to curry our favour, so he will make sure there is an exemption
as far as these rifles are concerned and Canadian LE fans will be have access to them. Mark my words!

I heard on this forum that the rifles are rusted out and beat, the government probably will not want these in our hands in case someone gets injured using them.

That may be true of some of those rifles but not the norm by far. Most of their keepers are proud of those old war horses and treat them with respect. The finish is often worn off the metal and the stocks are often scarred and battered but they function perfectly and some are even quite accurate. The only reason they are being replaced is a lack of spare rifles and spare parts. They picked up a bunch of spares from Pakistan a few years ago but that was only a stop gap. Many of those rifles are getting quite worn as well.

Maybe a flood of letters to the PM's office and the Minister of Defence's office Jason Kenney might bring about the desired results.

Just like the P35 pistols, it will be many years before they are phased out completely. They will cannibalize as many as they can for replacement parts to keep as many of the No4 rifles in the field as possible for as long as possible or until their ammo runs low for requirements.

IMHO those new rifles which are being field tested now won't see distribution for another 5-10 years. Between the Army and the Government slow as possible is the byword when it comes to non essential procurement.

Riflechair and a few others here could really answer the questions much better than I can. Richard, are you one of the lucky few to be field testing the new replacement rifles??

Neither the CF nor Federal government have released ANY firearms for sale to the public for eons. They'll be chopped, Just like all the Cadet No. 4's, No. 7's, the brand spanking new C1A1's, C2's, Sterlings and Inglis BHP's.
Stephen Harper is a politician and is not our friend.

If you don't like Harper, then vote him out. Try the the "friendship" of Trudeau or Mulcair.

That's the problem with elections and politics. The group you vote for isn't necessarily good or "friendly", they're just the least bad.

I personally would love to see the No4s sold as surplus, along with the Inglis pistols.........but we all know what the odds of that happening are, lol
