Where do you buy your British .303

I haven't seen any "cheap" .303 British ammo in quite some time, although I have purchased some in a few ammunition lot's at auction sales. As far as off the shelf stuff goes, be prepared to spend a buck a shot, PRVI Partisan is about as "cheap" as it comes, but is really good ammo. Save your brass and start reloading, this is as cheap as it gets!

You are best off buying it local as buying it online you will be paying extra for shipping (it costs a lot to ship ammo)
Walmart and Canadian Tire have it for about 27$ + tax for Winchester soft point.
The cheapest I ever got was about 74 cents a round (milsurp dated 1944 and 1945) at a gunshow.
Here in NB I go to mount eagle outfitters and I get it for 24$ a box (sellier and belliot)

Good thing it's not semi auto. It's worth it at a $1 a shot its a Jungle Carbine. With all the .303s out there you would think it would be cheap. Maybe a guy should build a small ammo factory and undercut them by $0.05 a shot.

I dont shoot 303 but do shoot 7.62x54 as well as 7.62x39 and reload for both with significant savings. Will be reloading for my K31s with an even greater savings. Tadam is right the only way to go with milsurps is reloading unless shooting a brass raping semi like the SVT40 in which case I would be saving my corrosive surplus just for her.

no such things as cheap .303 any more cheapest ive seen it was S&B at like $13 a box of 20 also dont shoot up any surplus .303 as this is almost compleatly gone by now and much more collectable

best bet is reloading theres a thread in the reloading forum right now about this take a look alot of good info

The only "cheap" .303 is handloads. Although once this year managed to find Privi at a gun show for $15 a box. I cleaned the guy out of everything he had which was 5 boxes.

Like said above, handloading and milsurps go hand in hand, unless you have oodles of money to spend on ammo!!

i reload for my svt40 no problems as of yet other then it send the brass 20ft away (my riged up brass catcher helps a bit) only thing i dont like is i have to F/L resize it

@ 18.00 for 20 for Winchester Super X ammo, it is not worth reloading and it aint cheap ammo... JP.

Am I the only one jacked up about the lee enfield? Maybe there are so many people buying it up it is causing a supply and demand situation. They might want to put a second shift on the factory I plan on doing a lot of plinking. I think I would blow myself up doing the reload thing. Big bag of powder and me not a good combination.

Sometimes it is worth reloading a calibre.

As a comparison, I hand load 8mm Mauser and have been using the same cases for about three years now. I lost count how many times I have used them and only recently, I retired two cases as there was an imperfection in the case neck.

8mm Mauser from Prvi and Winchester run about a $1.50 to $2.00 a shot in T-bay but I hand load the rounds for about ~ $0.50-0.60 a shot.

Maybe time to anneal those case necks.
Otherwise, I suspect you'll be soon seeing more and more imperfections on 'em.

Personally, I don't shoot a lot of .303 British unless it's out of my P14. The reason for this is my P14's chamber is really tight and the cases stretch very little therefore extending my brass life. My Parker Hale No.1 Delux's chamber is absolutely horrible. My Privi brass grew over .035 thousands in length after being shot through the PH. The brass fails after two reloadings on the brass from that rifle.

I reload .303 for about $0.47 a round. That's about as cheap as it gets, I think.
