Where do you get cheap shells?

Challenger shells are assembled here in Quebec. They are Cheddite owned, use Cheddite hulls and wads. I don't know whose powder they use now nor where the lead or steel comes from. The best cheap shells is still the Federal Top Gun.

I'm at 3.25$ a box with my reloads, all components bought this year
But I make my own shot.
I don't think its worth setting up if you shoot under 10 flats a year.

Don't be afraid to buy lots if you find a good deal on shells.

Eagle Hunting Supplies in Richmond sells (or at least did, haven't been there in a while) for $70 taxes in, so I guess $61.40 before 14% tax. I believe they do a discount for VGC members too.

I fear you are right on, Salter, even though I shoot 1 oz 12 gauge. As for the vacuum tubes, they get used whether I'm loading or not, it's my other hobby - vintage tube radios, tube audio and classical vinyl records!
Cheers,
Roger

The Challenger loads were recently on sale at Cabela's for $59.99. I am really happy with Challenger since we have had no complaints about them in my Citori and my wife's pump. As a bonus they are also made in Canada.

At $59.99 it pays to bulk up with at least 4 flats.

Hummason's still have the Challenger 12 gauge target loads for $58.95 per flat (plus tax). I expect that ammunition will be going up in the near future (some already has) due to the increase in the value of the US $.

Thankfully I can drive to Hummason's without going too far out of the way.

I found I was not very consistent with the Challengers, but after changing back to Winchester Target I'm back to better consistency usually in the 20's. For $4-5 dollars a case difference, I'm happier with Winchester.

Must have been on sale. Haven't seen them for that price when I've been in.

Dundas had two skids a month ago when I was in... and all locations usually get them in the spring... IIRC the usual price is $58 something/flat...

My wife uses a Wingmaster Trap and she had problems with Winchester Target failing to eject. Aside from that I have no complaints with them and its worth the extra $5 if you shoot better with them.

Ultimately performance is more important than cost and some guns seem to prefer one brand over another.
