Any recommendations? I just bought a Mosin and I need to get some 7.62x54r. Looked at Cabelas but they didn't have much. Lots of online stores seem to be out of stock.

I'm in Nanaimo BC, but I would buy online too if the shipping was reasonable. Where do you buy from?

I make my own for less common/expensive calibers like 8mm Mauser, .38 S&W, and 6.5 Carcano. For more available things like 7.62x54r I tend to purchase from a site sponsor. Most of them will have some sort of shipping deal if you buy a crate

I can also vouch for Trade Ex. I've bought surplus ammo from them multiple times and they have been absolutely excellent. Every time I purchased from them I bought crates of ammo and they were all free shipping despite needing to be couriered.

Give Pullen's a call, to confirm they have stock, then drive to Langford/Highlands on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Buy ammo, drive home safe in the knowledge that no one recorded anything about the transaction, beyond viewing your PAL and hand writing a receipt. Try not to spend every penny you own on milsurps while you're there, try not to get addicted to visiting. Say hi to all the grouchy old b*stards p*ssing and moaning about the mess the country is in. Gee, it's good to realize you aren't the only one.

There is a LOT of variation out there. I just checked ammobin and found standard .303 British at anywhere from $22 to $55 for a box of 20 rounds.

Crazy thing is that some of the highest prices were from companies which people rave over.

And NO availability on Defence Industries, the Canadian outfit that made BILLIONS of rounds of the BEST 303 ever produced!

Looks like we are BOTH outdated: me AND the 303!

.303 is one I reload for. I was lucky enough to find Greek surplus ammo and some prvi on a good deal. Now that I have brass I won’t buy .303 from a store. Sometimes it’s a good deal, and as you said sometimes it’s $55 a box

i just got a hell of deal on 12 boxes (48 rounds per box) of DI in an ammo can. Less than a buck a round. Deals can be found, but people need to know you and that you shoot some of these calibres. For those wondering, neither Smellie, nor the 303 are outdated, there's definitely no substitute for Smellie, and the US spent a fortune dreaming up the M118 LR round in 7.62 which has nearly identical ballistics to..... the .303 service round from 70 years ago.
