Hi

I have been calling around to dealers I know, and asking if they can get Sierra Matchking bullets. They say "Yes maybe" then they quote a price that is ......well......

Hornady seems to be what everybody want to sell me, but I like options.

Where do you get your Matchkings from?

Locally...... Hub Sports, when I'm in Alberta.... Wholesale Sports and now that our dollar is doing so well compared to the US dollar I import some at a huge savings from the States. ;)

Wholesale Sports 1 800 order line. Easy , simple, Airmiles on the VISA card. Bullets show up a week later. Good to go. Yup, they even haver Hornady bullets and the 68's that I love for Service Rifle .223 Rem (I mean) are always in stock.

Speaking of Sierra Match Kings does anyone have the .308 175 moly. I have checked out Sierra and a few other online stores and they only come in batches of 500 for the moly. I am looking for a sample of 100 to see if they will shoot in my rifle.

thanks

"...a price that is ......well......" Sierra bullets aren't cheap to start with, adding the word 'match' increases the price. The Hornady's aren't cheap either for the same reason.
The exchange rate is only a small part of the price difference between here and the U.S. Add duty, shipping, taxes, etc and you don't save much. I suspect you'd need the U.S. export permit as well.

Ian Roberston @ Robertson Composites here in Ottawa. He usually charges 10% above his dealer cost just to get the items to local shooters. He told me once that if we cannot get shooing supplies, why would we need his stocks. His prices are about the same as Wholesale in general, but I get the items in ~ 2 days instead of two weeks.

Sierra

I drive one hour and bring them back from the USA. There is no hassle at the border and I don't remember ever being made to pay duty at the border. They just ask what you got and they let you go. I save piles over the local Gobles chain. Even with gas included.

I didn't know this was possible without an import permit or something.

I just bought 1600 once fired Rem 223 brass in the States for $57.00 including shipping to my PO Box. I went down picked them up, declared them at the border and was waved through.

You know guys, I heard a story a few weeks back, from a very credible person. Someone he knew bought some things on the US side, declared it, payed the GST and went home. 2 days later he got a call from Homeland security in the US. Seems that Canada customs ratted him out and Uncle Sam wanted his things back.

Till the Americans stop being so paranoid, I will shop up here.
