where do you go shooting outdoors?

Went out to check the trail cams in my back bush this morning, a coffee in one hand and my new JRC .45 in the other. :D

Bought a place close to the city, but still far enough away and with just enough land, that I could shoot without bothering any neighbors. Took ten years of grinding and a bit of luck in a crazy real estate market, but we did it.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by "just enough land"? 500,000 sq ft? More? Less?

I'm keeping an eye out for opportunities. I always take the time to carefully read the bylaws that apply where a land is listed for sale. But I wonder what people here consider large enough to shoot safely without bothering anyone.

I can be on a dirt road and out of cell range in under 10mins here in my area. My shooting spot is roughly a 20min drive once I hit the dirt road. Range distance is approx 210yrds. Good enough for all the shooting I will ever do.

I had a fairly large land - abandoned gravel pit for many years 15 minutes East from my place, last 2020 spring/summer somebody put up a sign "private property"....uhm, don't want to question that here...and not in the maps.

Make sure your bullet does not leave the property. That will require a backstop. The shape of the land will dictate the range you can shoot. Generally speaking I'd look for at least 50 acres.

Not bothering anyone is subjective. Gun shot sound from a centrefire will travel further is realistic to buy (a couple KM is not unrealistic).

The further you can get away from an urban centre, the better

So finally we got to "next year", 2021 is on the run, I don't see the "situation" is calming down soon. A good thing is still winter...minus 15C and some light snow on the ground at my place...boring...
