I'm looking for some powder for reloading 300WSM and 40 s&w and I can't seem to fins a good place to source it.

I tried cabelas but for two cans of powder they wanted $250 shipping for dangerous goods, has anyone had the same issue?

I don't have anywhere I can buy it locally, where are you guys getting it from?

Thanks

I'm in Powell River BC

I'll Check out higginson, but You go through Fastex in BC?

I don't mind paying a bit more for the dangerous goods shipping, it is what it is, but $250 for 2lbs is absurd.

Unless you can do a group buy or you are prepared to buy a decent amount of powder getting it locally is going to be your best bet.

I'm in the same boat as you, I can get powder in 2 places locally (45 min drive), Cabelas or WSS and that's it. I sometimes drive 2 hours to Brandon to get supplies also.

What I do usually is phone every so often to see what they have in stock. At Christmas I went to buy powder and found that Cabelas had 3 lbs in the whole store so I bought what they had even though it wasn't what I was looking for. Then last week I went in and they had a ton in stock.

That's how it goes!! You have to search for powder but you'll find it!!

No I haven't, I was just told by another member it would be $65. Rustywood is in Mission and they have some of the best prices here. Budget shooters supply in the banner at the top is in Surrey. He just got a pile of powders in. Probably cheapest shipping option. Take the Ferry to Comox and shop over there or Campbell River? Course if you know someone who's heading up or down.... What specifically are you looking for? We can find out who had it then you can pay for it and have them hold it until someone is making the trip.

Higginson Powders will ship, but they are in Ontario on the Quebec border close to Montreal

The ferry from PR is going to Nanaimo right now while there is some major dock repair going on.
Take your bicycle one day and head down for a full day to spend at WSS in Nanaimo.
Just another option for you.

You don't like Sam's selection or stock???

Rusywood has IMR4350 in stock $31/# For the S&W He has 4756 for the same price. Alliant Power Pistol is $24/#

Henry at Budget has 4350 and 4831 even an 8#er of H4350

I'm no help, I usually get my stuff at P&D. Occasionally Phoenix range.

My goal is to eventually just man up and put in a Higginson's order. I figure it's worth dropping $600 or $700 and getting set for the next good while. They do free shipping over 21 pounds. If you can lay down the capital, or find some local people to share, it's a pretty good deal.

Same issue with Cabelas. Wanted $140.00 to ship 4 lb. of powder from WPG to Vancouver. No more Cabelas foe me, for anything.

Might end up doing that

I'm looking for some oddball stuff and their selection is limited right now

don't bother with wholesale in Nanaimo.....limited to nothing in stock and the prices are through the roof....
Give Karl a call in Campbell River and see what he has in stock, still pricy but he generally has everything..........

I might be over your way mid may if your not in to much of a hurry

Maybe I oughta stock my boat and do some GUNpowder RUNNIN LOL. Knew people who ran a floating store 60' double ender ran up and down the coast did special orders and lots of Costco stuff. If you have to cover my fuel you won't like my prices. If I hoist my sails you won't get your powder before hunting season. I loved living way out there and in my view it's the winning end of the trade-offs but you've got to make every trip to town count.
