I dunno what it is about this cal but I've been craving one for the longest time but alas there sure isn't much for them being made, I believe uberti is making some but i was hoping for something a little less $$ if at all possible.
Seem to recall winchester or marlin was making one not that long ago, and by not that long ago i mean 6 or so years.
Maybe someone out there has a good line on one??

Still available from Remington and you can ask any gun store to order for you but they comes in a price range of $65 for one box of fifty. And you are not going to shoot many, may be just hunting for deer with LEVER ACTIONS

So Remington is making .44-40 firearms for under a buck each? Cool! Handguns or rifles?

.45 Colt may not be historically authentic, but it is a better choice because carbide dies are available and you don't have to worry about collapsing cases the way you do with .44-40.

.44 Magnum is another good choice for the same reasons, but is limited to stronger actions, like the Marlins or Model 92s.

The 44/40 is seen a fair bit in Cowboy action now as folks have come to appreciate the old cal. and it works real well with Black Powder. I've never had trouble reloading it, and it would be my first choice for a pistol and rifle in matching calibers. I believe Chaparell and Pietta are making 44/40s, this is one cal. where a reloader can save a bundle over factory loads.
