Where have all the good guns gone...long time passing

The EE has a lot of people who back out of sales, bad comms, ill take its, only to never hear from them again. So I think it turns a lot of guys off. Also a collector with quality pieces, know other collectors who like similar stuff so lots of stuff never needs to be shopped around.

Ain't that the truth!

When I've said I'll take it, the money is usually sent that day or the next day. Never figured out why people speak for a gun and then after figure out if they can afford it!

And I agree the more people you know the easier it is to find quality guns at reasonable prices.

Absolutely true,a large percentage of the real gems never come up for sale in something like the EE.That doesn't mean they don't on occasion,we see the odd one here and there, but many are bought and sold just by word of mouth in the firearm collecting community. At least that has been my experience over the years.

That is EXACTLY how I ended up with a Converted Mark IV SMLE after looking for one for many years.

Just walked in the door, looking for a new home! And it was MUCH too cheap.

GOTTA figger out a way to GET EVEN with that man.

And THAT can be difficult.

NO-ONE can have too many FRIENDS.

Doesn't this count? No takers!
M 1908 Brazilian Mauser in 7x57 mauser

K, stop waving that sweet gun around!!

I keel looking at your ad and it's driving me crazy that I don't own that thing!! Sadly I'm preparing for a big shoot coming up and my new gun gun funds are a little on the low side!!

I can't believe that nobody has bought that. Super nice Brazilian for the price. If I didn't already have a nice matching 1908 I'd be all over that one. Crazy that the demand for South American contract mausers just isn't there. They are some of the nicest made milsurps you'll ever see. Built with old world craftsmanship, the fit and finish is just outstanding.

That's a fine firearm indeed. The Brazilian Imbel rifle I wish to own, was one of these rifles converted to .22 LR repeater in the 1980s. Only 40 were converted. And they look and shoot real sweet!

That is a SUPER nice Brazilian Mauser.

German-made, in case folks don't know.

Exactly like a late-Wartime Gew '98 except peacetime-built in a far more polite (and super-accurate) calibre.

I would have jumped all over it if I didn't have Serial Number 25 already here.

I too felt there has been a significant change in the market. A few years ago the EE was better than my local gun shop. Now, it seems to be the opposite. Strange.

Anywho as many said, good guns are out there. Gotta scan wide: classifieds (both electronic and paper), gun shops, gun shows, the EE right here, etc. Sooner or later, you can find something you like.

All together now:

"You can't always get what you want....
You can't always get what you want...
You can't always get what you want...
But if you try sometimes...
Well you might find...
You get what you need!"

I guess it depends on what you find interesting. I think the main reason for lack of interest in South American Mausers is that they were mostly never used in conflict. And with the Brazilians, although they're gorgeous guns, there's a lot of them out there. I tend to feel the same way about Swedes and Schmidt-Rubins.

That said I did get a couple of great Mausers off the EE recently, both of which had been sitting around for quite awhile. A pre-Communist Yugoslavian 1924 (not at all common and a definite WW2 vet) and a 1925 Oviedo Spanish M93 - definitely a Spanish Civil War vet. The latter sat around for months, which I couldn't believe.
