It seems as though the supply of VZ58's has dried up. There are some 858-2's to be had, but there sure doesn't seem to be many VZ58's for sale anymore. Anyone know who has them as an instock item?

Up until last week JP (PS Guns & Militaria) had a bunch. Then poof, all gone. I'm glad I have mine. :)

Not to rub it in..but I bought one of the last one's JP had for sale.
Glad I did, as it is 10X handier than the 858 I already had!

Where are the Fifty-Eights? They are supposed to in Ontario. Some say in Alberta. Nobody believed they were real. Nobody ever saw them or knew anybody that ever worked with one, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have had one. You never knew. That was its power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And poof. Just like that, they're gone.

What's the difference other than name between the two?

VZ58 is the read deal military version (through it was never assembled as a FA... ) it is semi auto only 15.8ish " barrel restricted due to barrel length

the vz858 has a aftermarket barrel thats over 18.5" NON chrome lined make the rifle non restricted

Vz 58

I have one and really like it over my Yugoslavian AK. It feels smaller but functions really well. I heard the 858's had some problems but it could be BS. It feels really great with the normal stock but the folder just doesn't do anything for me. I feel it is going to slip off my shoulder; I might try some tape with a rubber texture like on a Pachmyer grip.

I just thought of something I have a friend that sells Spongy Wonder Bike Seats and he uses a really great sponge material that sticks to his seats. It would be great for the folder, offering recoil protection, grip, and extending the stock. I helped him develop the frames and he holds the patent for it and Dragon Fly Footballs. If you are a person that likes to bike, they offer less stress on your tale bone, unlike other bicycle seats. I am going to ask him for some samples and see what I can do with it. If anyone is interested in some of the material let me know and I may be able to snag some of the material for you.

Well, I'm glad I got mine when I did.
I got mine from Milarm when they were selling just the rifle and 1mag for $399.
I absolutely love it. A very compact rife even compared to the 858 and a whole lot of fun to shoot.
....and I'm not giving mine up anything time soon.:D

I love mine though parts of it have obviously belonged to an issue weapon with lots of wear and tear not seen on the 858s. It runs like a military issue rifle should without any problems and has decent accuracy.

I wish they would make the longer 858 with a chrome barrel so it could stand the corrosive ammo thats floating around. I suppose you could just run a windex patch on the range but still a bullet hose should be chromed.

I got mine from milarm for 399 with one mag aswell - heck of a deal. I would like to get an 858 but it dosent make sense to me when the M14S are around.

Priorities you know.

Doubt that these rifles were in continuous production. More likely a batch was assembled. How many finished but never assembled into a rifle original receivers would be sitting around waiting to be modified to semi and assembled for sale in Canada?

None for sale cause us nuts but them all ive got a few here for myself!
Was that in English?

I've been happy with mine. I'm sure they will get some more in if there is a demand for them. Best thing to do is call Marstar and ask as their web site is frequently out of date or incorrect.
