Where have the marlin X7'S gone?

I purchased a Marlin xl-7 last year in 30-06 and have been so impressed with this "budget" rifle I would like another in another chambering possibly stainless as well. I dont seem to be able to locate any though. Anyone know whats going on with this? has marlin ceased production or am I not looking in the right places?
 
Have you tried Coastal Outdoors out east? I also have the XL7 in 30-06 (putting a brake on it as we speak) and picked up an XS7 in 22-250 early this year with extra-heavy (and long) barrel for $319 plus tax and shipping of course. The accuracy out of the box with a crappy old Bushell was nothing short of remarkable. They still have them listed on sale. Might be worth the call. This beast is really only good for bench rest or sitting on a bipod though, like I said its one heavy beast!
 
With the Remington 783 being Remington's new budget bolt action, I wonder how long the Marlin XS7 will be around? I believe Freedom Corp. owns both Remington and Marlin.

It will be around for as long as it sells enough to contribute to Marlin making profits for Freedom Corp.

With a history that includes the 710 and 770, woe betide the Remington executives who go to their owners complaining that their 783 can't complete with the owner's other gun company.
 
Figured theres already a thread about it... and its not very old; Any more leads on where to track down these beauties? Specifically looking for a stainless model (.270), but even a blued would be fine at this point!
 
I have one in 30/06 as well and its a tack driver with reloads and wanted another in .243 and could not track one down until a gunnut here directed me to one. It was new and a great price and was stainless but the stock and some of the barrel was scratched up and since I was not able to see it in person I passed on it, though I appreciated the owner of the store calling me about it before shipping it out. I ended up picking up a Ruger American. He may still have it , message me if you want the name of the retailer.
 
I had one in .243, and it was a tack driver as well.

Definitely one of the best in the budget hunting rifle market. Head and shoulders above anything Rem, or Savage at the price point.

Now all that said, I am thinking that my next rifle will be a Ruger American. They are well built, and have a decent removable mag.
 
Good to hear all the positives on the rifle! Thanks heavybullet for the retailer, and I will continue my hunt the elusive .270 XL7 stainless until I get a chance to call on Tuesday when they reopen.

Ive got a few places that are willing to order in a .270 blued for me, but the SS was discontinued, so im stuck with finding something thats been sitting on someones shelf waiting for me to come along.
 
Wow , resurected it seems.
I did track one down at Bashaw sports , bought a camo in .270 for the princely sum of 329.00, Pud had a stainless .243 left at that time and a blued /06 but I imagine they are both long sold by now.

It was within a few months, so I figured what the hey; no need to restart another one!
 
Those were some big quality rifles for almost next to nothing prices, i am keeping preciously my 2 XL-7 Marlin Target 223, paid 299.00 each last year from a sponsor, they are long gone now... JP.

The mag is pretty cheesy feeling but works well, I tried mine in .243 yesterday, unfortunately my friends range is only 50 yards but the Ruger shot clover leafs and hole in holes easily at 50 yards, cannot wait to try it at 100 yards.

I came soo close to buying that .243 you told me about, gave Pud my Visa and addy etc. but he called me later that day telling me about the scratches, one honest guy Pud is. For the price he was selling it I should have purchased it, but I am anal on keeping my firearms in good condition even inexpensive ones, but at least I now have another retailer I trust for future purchases.
