The problem with M14 and M305 parts is they aren't all mutually compatible. Yes the M14 is a well-designed battle rifle, but the Chinese made them differently from USGI. Different threads and diameters for some parts. And speaking of Different, search for username 'Different' on this forum. His real first name is Lee, and he regularly updates his online book on the development of the M14. He has a list of interchangeable parts between M305 and M14/M1A.

On the other hand, these guns are cheap and common. Find one that you aren't in love with, and keep it as a locker queen. You will have the parts you need today, maybe tomorrow and some major pieces to sell off to other guys looking.
