Hi,

I am looking at getting an O/U shotgun. I have tried some of the local members shotguns but none of them fits me very well. I am looking for someone/some place in AB where they can help me to find an O/U that will fit me.

Any suggestions?

A holiday to Saskatoon ?
The Saskatoon Gun Club has a collection of near new rental guns, so that you can try shooting the guns that interest you.

Alberta is a big province, it would help if you gave a more specific location. Either visit different trap&skeet clubs, or head out to Silver Willow Sporting Clays, where you can rent shotguns to shoot sporting clays.

Actually, probably the best place to go, is the Grand American in Sparta, IL. It is a bit of a drive, but you can see all the guns, talk to all the gun makers and see some of the best stock fitters in the business. The dates are August 5-15. I would suggest going between the 7th and 11th.

When I was buying my silver, the guy at Wholesale said that there is a place out by Vulcan that has tons of shotguns to rent and try.

+1 to silver willow, they have an awesome selection of different rents guns.

The shotgun will be use for primarily on American trap but may go to skeet later. Right now I am shooting about 6 rounds of American trap and 1 round of skeet every week. I would like to go more frequent than that. Also, I would like to eventually move to International trap. I have been shooting American trap for 3 years, 6 months skeet.
I am usually around Edmonton to Fort McMurray (occasionally I do travel to southern AB). I do not go to the states much anymore.
This shotgun will be unlikely to go hunting so a wooden stock will be fine. I prefer to stay with 12 ga, low or no rib, no ported barrels, replaceable choke tubes, 30 in barrel and good recoil management (I found recoil pad alone may not be enough as my shoulder takes a beating when shooting long distance precision rifle right after the trap).
I prefer a location that will allow me to pattern the shotgun as well.
