Where is the best place to buy an upper

What are you looking for exactly?

I bought a Spike's Lower from Kodiak a few months ago and it's sitting in my safe waiting. (I find it odd to have a little piece of aluminum that requires paperwork and a locked safe.) Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I too have been looking at uppers.

You just missed the boat at Questar on LMT uppers! They had some 14.5 and 10.4 uppers a month ago. They sold out very quick as everyone was waiting for these babies for a loooooooong time. The price was very good too. I love LMT product...got 3 Defender 2000 ,2 in 14.5 and 1 in 10.4.......

Questar by far has the widest selection from at least 4 different brands, barrel lengths from 11.5" to 20", gas DI, piston and priced range from $1000 all the way up to $2300.

If you can't find what you want at Questar, list out the specs as to what you are looking for, so it will be easier for people to give you some ideas.

Thanks for the info...The problem is I am not exactly sure what I am looking for. I was hoping that by looking at a ton of uppers I would be able to make a decision. I would like to spend arount the 1000 mark. Are there brands to stay away from ie performance issues?

All the sponsoring dealer on CGN are pretty picky when it comes to what they decide to bring into Canada, so you can't go wrong with any brand of product they choose to sell.

Out of all the parts that makes up an upper, the barrel is the one that will have the biggest effect on performance, which will take up the biggest share of your $1000 budget, Alberta Tactical makes custom barrels in 5.56, .223 and 223 Wyld, but they start around almost $600, than next item will be the rail, which is all personal taste it can pretty much take up what is left of your budget.

To stick to your $1000 range I would look at RRA or Arms East and Questar's house brand uppers.
