where is the cheapest place to buy .22 stingers?

lol, velociratpers :p

Velociters and Stingers are best bought in bulk of 500 round bricks (10, 50 round boxes) and I've seen them for decent prices at wholesale. The most expensive I've seen them is in caroline.

KDX, if you really think that Velociters are good, you obviously haven't chronoed them against Stingers yet! They aren't worth the price to get only 992 fps out of my Kimber .22 LR conversion kit. Stingers come out at over 1,250 fps. Even Federal Classic gives me 1,024 fps!

You must be bored if you chrony rimfire ammo out of a hand gun. If you take a look at the ballistics and energy of each round, it will tell you a different story. Then there is accuracy. It's not even worth comparing the Stinger to the Velocitor. If you don't believe me, go spend some time on Rimfire Central and I highly doubt you will find anyone other than a few noobs touting how good the Stingers are. Stingers and Quick Shocks don't work in match chambered barrels either.;) The Stinger has 81 ft-lbs energy @ 100 yards. The Velocitor has 104 ft-lbs energy @ 100 yards. The Stinger is traveling @ 1066 fps @ 100 yards. The Velocitor is traveling @ 1084 fps @ 100 yards. If you want your gun to make noise, I guess you might like the Stinger. I'll spend my money on something that works better.

Nice... thanks for the info. Makes sense, I have a brick of Stingers, but wouldn't mind trying the other stuff (energy is what it all comes down to). Where to you get Velocitors at a good price then?

I just buy them at places like WSS and they are never cheap. American Eagle AE22 are good hollow point ammo that is cheap. They are 37gr (I think, maybe 36gr) copper washed ammo that comes in 40 round boxes. Most people who use them find them accurate and good on gophers. Different guns are like different people though.

Sorry to burst your bubble KDX, but by chronoing .22 LR out of my Kimber, I found out at what velocity my conversion kit functioned flawlessly at, without having to change to a different mainspring on my .45. Accuracy comes second when you are using the pistol in rimfire action matches, where the targets are bigger than gophers and the when the targets are at no farther than 50 yards generally, the velocity really doesn't matter. Flawless functioning does though. The good thing that at 65 meters, in the kimber I can take down a steel gopher and at 100 meters bowling pins fall easily with a 10/22. I am looking forward to trying the Stingers out in my new Tactical Solutions upper. Always match your ammunition to its required use.
