Where is the CZ 512 love?

Just wondering why I never really see anything about the 512? I see pile of discussions about the 455 ad 452 but nothing one the 512. I'm wanting to get a semi rim fire rifle and it's my top pic but I never see them anywhere and i never hear anyone talking about them. Is there something wrong with them? Is it cause it only has a 25 round magazine? I thought that with so many CZ fans on here I would have seen and heard more about them.

There's nothing wrong with them. A semi is still a semi, however, and most shooters seem to prefer the lego approach that comes so readily to the 10/22. The Ruger has the advantage of being less expensive and much more modifiable. Nevertheless, comparing a stock 512 with a stock 10/22 and the choice is not difficult if the extra cost is not an issue.

A 1022 and a CZ shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. The 512 is the most accurate semi rimfire out there. Most Reliable too. Well made too. Unlike a 1022. Get one, you won't be disappointed. Think there are only 5 and 10 round mags available though and they are expensive.

That's my feeling too. I'd have to spend way more then the difference to have a rifle that looks and shoots as well as the 10/22 right? And they do have a 25 round banana mag for them too since they started making the tactical one. Best part is that I can use them in my 455 as well. Another reason I'm surprised that I don't see/hear about them more often. Anyone have one in here?

:agree:

If you were asking me that question directly, the answer would be that I don't care much for semis. I hear those 512s are good guns, but I don't think CZ tried overly hard to make the 512 a very handsome-looking rifle either.

A nice Anschutz bolt gun will (hopefully) be my next rimfire, but as far as semis go..only 2 are on the "radar" for me. A Marlin 7000, and a Thompson R55 Benchmark.

Really like mine. Shoots well, accurate (at least as I am) love that it shares mags with my 452 and 453. Mags are pricey and for some reason 5,10,25,plastic or steel all seem to be basically the same price 50-60 bucks. They all feed reliably even the 25 rounder. It seems to cycle most anything I feed it, Had mine out last Sunday for a plink. Mine is the wood stock, not the tactical, I like the furniture. My son won a 10-22 at a club youth shoot, he still grabs the 512 to plink with. Super Tenere is correct there really is no comparison between the two rifles. There used to be some one on here that machined upgraded charging handles for these rifles. Anyone still have contact info for that person.

saving up for a CZ 512 tactical with 3 mag of 25 rounds but it will be 22 WMR

You'll be out of luck with that one, they only make 5&10 end mags for the 22 WMR. I sure love mine still though. A handful of 10's and one 5 that fits a bit flusher for hunting and it makes my mag carbine very versatile.

I love the CZ 512. Its lighter than a 10/22, way more accurate, nice trigger, and the quality difference is night and day. Pulling the charging handle of a 512 feels like charging a 9mm rifle not a .22. The bolt locks back on the last round and releases when pulling the charging handle back on a loaded mag. The last round hold open is in the trigger guard. The lower receiver is made of polymer but its a very high quality polymer. I myself like the classic 512 more than the Tactical but the Tactical is a sweet gun for those who want a semi auto .22 with 25rd magazine. The cost of the 512 Tactical is the same as a Ruger SR22 so for me it would be a no brainer which one id pick. Its a way better gun than the 10/22.

I just received one of these rifles. The fit and finish is pretty nice. I did tighten the front screw for the front portion of the stock that has a very slight movement when shouldering. Looking forward to shooting it soon. Due to its design and obvious comparison to the 10/22 must be made. Compared to the 10/22 takedown, the CZ 512 is over the top in quality presentation. I has listed my 10/22 for sale after buying the 512 since I never really shot that rifle well. I figured out why while re-inspecting the rifle prior to boxing to make sure all was well. It was then that I realized the rear sights on my 10/22 are off by several degrees on the barrel. I cancelled the for sale ad and have sent the 10/22 in for warranty.
compared to the 10/22 takedown Stainless the 512 with wood stock. Due to my 10/22 issue I taped a string to the front sight on the 512 and the plumb lines runs pretty well perfect to my eye when held up. I will do this on all my new and current iron sighted rifles just to me sure if in fact its me or could be the rifle lol.

Comparing the CZ512 to the 10/22 stainless takedown
- is heavier but still light
- much longer shouldering length (comfortable for me at 5ft10)
- bolt hold open is much more self explanatory and easy to put on/off on the CZ512 compared to the (play till it works) safety on the 10/22
- children may find the 10/22 shorter length of pull more comfortable but I prefer the 512 if I had to choose.
I have not shot it yet but I really am fond of this rifle. Pick one up along with the 22 bolt action trainer... best 2 rifles avail for cheap shooting.

Not sure why but this rifle reminds me of shouldering a SKS for approximate size and sight picture. I love old school iron sights.

It may well be a great tool to serve a purpose, but a piece of art it certainly is not. It looks like the offspring a Baikal break action rifle, and a VZ58 ;)

any update? is the luv still there?

Well boxhitch , I bought a 512 as a gift for my buddy .

To preface this comment , I am not a semi-auto shooter.

The 512 is a nice enough rifle , just not impressed
by it , does have the Ruger beat all to hell .
...skwerl

The 512 is great, but as far as I'm aware CZ discontinued them. The trigger isn't my favourite but the rifle is accurate and gentle. I wanted to take mine out to do Mapleseed again but haven't had a chance yet.

nothing wrong with a 10/22 but the 512 is sort of just a little slicker, little slimmer. the mags are single stack and you can get the 25rounders.

I love mine.
