Where is the Duck Migration????

Returning to Cold Lake today from Calgary, spotted a few flocks of mallards and canadas just outside the Two Hills/St Paul area. I'm assuming the prairie potholes in or around south and central Alberta must be thier current temporary location of the bigger flocks I spotted several days ago while driving to Calgary.

There were countless ducks in north central sask this year, limited out, had plenty of snow geese and some Canada's as well. Awesome year!

my area isn't a good spot for migration but we still get some birds. There is a noticable phase every year where at first there is locals only , then we get a first push , which happened a few weeks ago then it seems like both groups leave and there is a big lul. thats were we are at now after that we should get another push of migrators

They are just starting to work through Southern Alberta. Went out today and braved the weather for a couple hours on some of the last open water around. Had a great time!

Nice. I had a similar hunt last weekend.. the last hunt of the year. we had plenty o' ducks around this fall, but winter struck early and everything is now frozen and snow-covered. All the birds have wisely headed south.

I'm surprised you got a blue-winged teal... they usually leave before the snow arrives...

Southern Ontario has been a disappointment so far. Tried today (hoping that Frenkenstorm would somehow push some birds this way), bagged just one bird.

The divers have been in since the first week of November... we have been getting limits of goldeneye, bluebills, ringbills, and bufflehead, with a smattering of greenheads and blacks.
