anybody know where I can pick up a new tikka t3 lite for a rightie in 6.5x55 and not have to wait "untill new years" for it to get into stock? nor pay 100 bucks over what everybody else want for them :p

Possibly Wholesale Sports. But I see you're in New Brunswick. It would probably be easy to walk into one of their stores here in the west to get one but their mail order is hit and miss.

Good Luck - I waited well over a year several years ago to finally get mine (SS Laminate). 6.5X55 just isn't a common caliber on this side of the pond - now a .270 or 30/06 that's different!!

Also, if you're not wedded to the Tikka you can pick up a milsurp Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55 from Tradex, another sponsor. I also sometimes see Ljungmanns (Swedish semi-auto) in 6.5 Swedish in the EE.

Epps also has the Zastava M98 Mauser in 6.5x55, which is a very good alternative to the Tikka.

I was looking at both and for the money I would go for the tikka. The gun is proven in 6.5 that it can shoot. The z98 has a 1 in 9 twist versus a 1 in 8 for the tikka. Price is about the same for a blue version. I went with the tikka in 6.5x55 and happy very happy.

It depends what you want. The 1 in 9 twist is plenty and the M98 is just about as "proven" as you can get. I think they are both good buys. The Zastava offers controlled feed, all metal construction and a floorplate. It just depends on what you want/need in a rifle.

I agree the m98 is a nice gun but the tikka for me was a proven winner. I looked at both in left handed and I wanted something that could shoot 160 grain. Not looking to get into an argument but the tikka was a proven winner and the resale value will be higher.

I have the target model and its accuracy is amazing! A friend recommended a tikka in 6.5 to me a few years ago for a great shooting rifle and Its at the top of the never sell list! I was even thinking of a lite with a normal sized scope for hunting( mines a bit heavy for long walks) but its a tough call.
