Thinking that I might buy another one as my celebratory purchase after the LGR is gone, but hell I can't even find a nice one now!

Westrifle, Weimejack, Tradex, Marstar, and even SFRC only seem to have either the Chinese, or crappy birch stocked models.

Anyone know who has decent stock of some nice laminate SKS's?

Cheers

Thanks guys.

Prairie Gun Traders = looks lie a good deal.

Frontier = looks like a decent deal with the free shipping.

Lever arms = out to lunch

Cabelas = on drugs if they think I am paying $350 for an SKS!

Just seems strange that all the sponsors seem to have such little stock. I thought these things were flowing like water these days.

I may end up going with one of Weimejacks laminate Mosin 91/30's though. Damn thwy look good.

Cheers

True Milsurp is finite

Lever used to sell any SKS you wanted for $199.50, but recently changed their pricing structure. Perhaps a sign that the nice ones are getting harder to find? I can't wait to tell my future kids about how I could pick and choose any SKS for 200 bucks 30 years from now (You know, like how all the old guys always talk about Enfields being 10-20 bucks in a bargain barrel!?) :D

I hear ya.

When I was a kid, Lee Enfields were $29.99,
and a Winchester 94 was $99.99.

I was in Del Selins (Vernon, BC) while back home for the holidays and he had a few Russian ones in the case. IIRC they were about $200-250 each.

I bought my SKS Ds from Lever for 99.00 each. Crates of ammo for 89.00 with a gun . Still working on the 8 crates I bought. A lot of fun for very little money.

You are just a youngster. I was buying SMLE rifles chosen from the barrel at $9.95. Lee Enfield No.4T Sniper Rifles complete in the Chest for $49.95 if you took three of them. How about a Cased Lewis Gun with spare barrel, lots of spare parts, anti-aircraft sights and five drums for $65.00?

So, now that crappy old SMLE you bought for $29.95 costs you $300-$450.
The Winchester 94 at $99.95 can now be bought for $300-$450.

An original No.1 Mark III Short Magazine Lee Enfield, is selling for 10 to 15 times the price (at $29.95), we were paying for them when there was a glut on the market, and the Winchester 94 is 3 to 5 times the cost of a rifle purchased at the same time. Kind of says something about buying some Surplus Military rifles, doesn't it.

Thirty years ago, when there was an influx of Swedish Mausers, a hand picked one that had a perfect stock with no dings or "kisses" on it was $69.95 and for another $10 you could get one with target sights on it. Now, the "well handled" ones are 4 times that price, and 5 or 6 times that price if you want a target m/96 FSR rifle.

While there seems to be a lot of SKS rifles available right now, this supply WILL end, and when we start to see the "well used" ones for the price we pay now, we will smile about the couple of them we have tucked away.

Speaking of the Sears Catalogue, I just have to tell this story.

About two years ago, I walked into a local Gun Shop. The Owner was behind the counter, and three people in front of the counter. On top of the counter was a box that contained a Deluxe Parker Hale SMLE Sporter conversion.

As the Owner knew that I was familiar with the Military rifles and such, he asked my opinion on it. It was in the original box, had matching serial numbers, replacement checkered walnut sporter stocks, a Parker Hale five round magazine, and the original packing. There was even the string tied around the box, AND the bill of sale ----for $19.95.

It had been bought in the 1960s, and was found in the back of a closet in a house owned by an woman who had passed away. The three people in front of the counter were the Son and two Daughters, and they wanted to sell the rifle and not be hassled because of the Gun Laws.

I gave an honest opinion of the value of the rifle, and the fact that the Gun Shop Owner could not buy it at that price, but had to make some money as a Commission. They accepted that, and sold the rifle.

Then the Story came out. When the Lady had ordered from Sears, there was a mix up somewhere along the line, and she received the Parker Hale Sporter Rifle. It was not what she ordered, and not knowing much about guns, and not sure how to send it back, she had stuck it in the back of the bedroom closet and left it there for almost 50 years.

She had originally ordered a set of WINDOW BLINDS!

I bought them all,,;0),,or so my wife thinks when she looks in the safe!
And I am awaiting Johnny Marstars yugo's to arrive with the grenade launcher,if the price is reasonable, I will have one!
Does anyone know if Westrifle will be getting any of those in too?

Guys will have some in about two weeks or more. UN is putting their laws on shipping and it is getting harder to get those into Canada. This is all i am going to say. Stay tuned. I know we will have this container in. Next one I don't know :(
