If these are allowed in, I wonder if that opens the door to real Beryls from Poland?

The Beryl is the 5.56 chambered later development of the Tantal, it's used by the Polish military.

A civilianized pseudo Beryl clone newly manufactured by Fabryka Broni, though including some U.S. components, known as the Archer has recently hit the U.S. market.

If not, a source of Beryl parts would be welcome, the furniture at least will fit the Tantal.

At last, something constructive and interesting in this thread!
Thanks for the info.

From doing some reading it seems like standard furniture will indeed fit the Tantal platform, at least the buttstock and lower handguard.

The upper handguard is a unique piece however, interchangeable only with the Beryl.

The Tantal muzzle break seems to be another unique piece, you can't install a regular '74 brake without major alterations or possible an adapter.

If the "Canadian" model is anything like the U.S. version it should be based on a NoDak Spud/DCI receiver, the best of the U.S. sourced receivers, a Tapco G2 trigger, Tapco is normally cheap junk but the G2 trigger is pretty good {I've shot quite a few} and is a design they bought off someone else.

The barrel should be U.S made chrome lined.

U.S. barrels aren't as good as former Warsaw Pact milspec stuff, but there shouldn't be any real issue with them.

All in all it should be decent, gotta keep those fingers crossed.

Its not an "AK" round. Stop calling it that. Its 7.62 x 39. It wasn't developped for the AK. Ammunition is not proprietary to one firearm. Calling it an AK round is doing what the anti journalists do.

^^^^ lol thats a funny pic. Im gonna use that as my screen saver.

@ 870p

Hopefully your right. The beryl would be awesome to get in, if it could be made to standards like the interarms sporting rifle.

Did they make a civilian variant of a beryl? I thought that was a mil only rifle and fb never bothered with a semi auto variant for civ sales?

Yeah, sorta, it's called the Archer, its currently available in the U.S.

Unfortunately it's offered through I.O. Inc, who are a bottom of the barrel {har har} U.S. assembly company in the class of Century Arms.

However without all that 922R baggage and other U.S. market import restrictions, you'd figure it would be easier to get a more authentic Beryl in here?

I think that second picture is actually a Polish style AK not a Tantal, considering the model # is AKMS and it doesn't have the proprietary gas tube handguard. Looking on Triggers website neither of the tantals will be in 7.62x39, only 5.45x39. Kind of a disappointment.

You people really, really need to start paying attention to what has been stated by Trigger Wholesale.

They have said more than once that the pictures currently on their website are NOT the rifle in question. Those are prohibited firearms that are brought in for the military.

Not a single picture of the rifle has been released anywhere yet.

d:h:

That second pic is probably a Polish AKM underfolder.

We certainly won't be getting an underfolding anything, though its no loss though as underfolders suck to shoot.

To a lesser degree, so does the depicted wire side folder, I've shot one of those as well though I couldn't tell you if it was on a Tantal or not.

The first thing I'd do if I had one of these rifles is try to order a '100 series side folder or a triangle folder, for the win.
