Where to buy 2.50 shotgun shells

kent is about the only way to go if you have 2.5" gun it was most likely only meant for black powder cutting any old hull down to 2.5", depriming and repriming a BP measuer and some BP a few card wads some shot and little glue to hold the top card

none of this you need a loading press for
 
Every now and then Kent does a run of their Pure Gold line, for the old gun shooters.

P&D in Edmonton had some last time I bought them. They ran about $12 a box.

Saw a pirate trying to get $35 for a box at the Kamloops Gun Show. I passed.

Depending on what you are shooting them in, the standard velocity loads in a 2 3/4 shell may shoot just fine. Check your actual chamber length, and confirm for yourself.

This based upon some info that was published in The Double Gun Journal, where, instead of believing what was the common belief, the guy actually put pressure transducers onto his shotgun barrels and tested them.

Dig around the Doublegunjournal site and you should be able to find the data.

The Army and Navy double (Webley Scott and Sons made, IIRC) has a pretty long chamber and shoots the light target loads just fine.

I would not want to shoot 2 3/4" in one of the common cheap 2 1/2" Belgian doubles
 
I make my own from cheap 2" 3/4 target load.

1-buy bulk remignton or federal 100 2" 3/4 1oz 1/8 target shell package from Canadian Tire or Wallmart
2-trim the top of the shell to remove the crimp
3-remove the shots from the shells but do not remove the wad
4-weight 1oz of shots and put it back in the shell
5-put a overshot card on top of the shell and apply a roll crimp using a roll crimper installed on a hand drill
and voila! You have your own ultra cheap 2" 3/4 shell

Note:This only apply to target load. !DO NOT DO THIS WITH HIGH VELOCITY HUNTING ROUNDS!
 
I have a 1920's Winchester pump that takes 2 1/2 inch shells, and I have found Kent ammo at Canadian Tire on occasion.

Short of copying and pasting great quantities off data here, that's adequate, unless the person is stupid.
