Where to Buy a 700 action

Hi - I wanted to build a rifle using a 700 action. Seems too expensive to buy a used rifle and remove the action, so are there retailers that just sell actions in Canada? Maybe in the $300-$400 range?

Canada Ammo had a huge sale on them last week. Recevier only for about $309-329. Complete actions with bolt and trigger $494-749 (The stainless actions were $526.99 for the s/a and 537.99 for the l/a magnum)

Buy a new SPS with the boltface and length you need. Dismantle it, and sell everything that you don't need. The price for the barrel will be very much dependent on the caliber, weight and length. $50 -$150. Plastic stock might only bring $25.

New Remington 700 actions sell for more than new rifles... that's been my experience.

Same with red deer shooting center, they sell them. There's a new CDN company manufacturing rem 700 footprint actions. Usually, you gotta have a rem 700 trued and that costs. The upscale actions don't need to be trued and usually the barrel threads are longer.

ended up just buying a new sps for my build, was a little more than just an action but ill have a brand new barrel and stock to sell so it'll almost equal out

Pacific Tool and Gauge in the US sell trued Remington 700 actions along with their own bolts which are apparently much improved over those of the standard Remington's along with more options. The straightforward way to obtain one might be to select a retailer or gunsmith that is able to import things like these and buy it and bottom metal as well as a Keiger or Benchmark 5R barrel and a stock through him, then rhave it assembled.

Horse96, are you referring to Insite Arms? They are in Alberta and are planning to start selling their own actions within the next 2-3 weeks. They will have a Rem 700 footprint.
