Where to buy a Franchi AL 48 in Canada

Thanks for the tip silverfoxdj I'll try them out! I wonder why we don't see any of the range of firearms our US counterparts have. I understand that our market is smaller, but if we already have franchi dealers here why not carry the a range of the line?

Recently had an answer to a question I sent about using steel shot in older 28 gauge Franchi 48AL shotguns.He said if your 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL shotgun has interchangeable chokes if was safe to use steel, as long as you used a modified choke or more open.NO FULL CHOKE USE.If you had a 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL without choke tubes it was okay to use steel as long as the choke was modified or more open.
Just thought you might be interested in that.Also the 28 gauge Franchi 48 Al is a great shotgun.Light to carry in the field and mind has fired lots of my hand loads ,even those which looked far from perfect without a hiccup.
Just be sure to keep a little light gun oil on the magazine tube and I am sure you will never have a problem with it.

Hello Mac.Have you used your 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL lately?Have not used mine since 2009 ,when I purchased my 28 gauge Ithaca Model 37.Both are great shotguns for field use and the 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL is a much less expensive 28 gauge self loader to purchase than the 28 gauge Beretta or Benelli self loaders.
Nope my friend. Still brand new with box never fired as many of my 28ga are
If I want a semi to shoot in 28ga I just grab one of the 1100's normally the sporting28 since it has choke tubes but I have all the extra fixed choke barrels for the others also if need be

They can be ordered in from the dealers mentioned above. But based on the current situation of the Canadian dollar, be prepared to drop your pants with regards to price if you go that route. I would suggest keeping your eyes open for a used one. They pop up from time to time and the prices are very attractive. There is no mechanical difference between the older 48's and the newer ones. Some of the older ones are actually much nicer then the newer ones anyway. Here is a 20g from my Franchi 48 collection....
The Benelli self loading 28 gauge guns always were much more expensive than the 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL.I expect there still to be quite a difference as the Benelli guns still have to factor in the low Canadian dollar,the same as the Franchi.
That being said, the new 28 gauge Ethos with the 3 inch chamber ,does sound quite interesting.Have not seen one yet ,but I heard they will be in the $2400.00 range.Just what I heard.
If one wants a fancier 28 gauge Franchi 48 AL, other than the standard grade , it can be had in the Deluxe and the top of the line Fenice version

I grew up with them so never found them heavy then again I am also a 280 pounder so maybe that makes a difference
I also have the old school original remington swing swivel mag cap on two which I have not seen for sale in 25 years. They work great and a sling does make a difference

I really like the Franchi. I had a 20 gauge a few years ago and foolishly sold it to a friend. He wasn't using it so I bought it back this week. It's the lightest auto loader I have seen and will be great to carry for grouse this fall.

Although the 28g is built on its own frame, its weight is only marginally lighter then 20g so I doubt a shooter will notice a substantial difference carrying one over the other . At the end of the day, how much lighter can a semi auto shotgun get....anything lighter then 5.4-5.6lbs is either a rimfire or a toy.

Then your Benelli is kind of like some women...when they hit that particular weight threshold, they can become great toys as well! Expensive ones at that!
