Looking for a decent Kit project for this winter. Maybe a 50 cal percussion or flinter. Seems that all the good stuff is in the states and they don't ship to Canada.

Where can you buy mail order or internet in Canada?

Your best selection is in the states and alot of the parts companys ship here. Try
sitting fox muzzleloading, northstarwest if you want a smooth bore trade gun, the list goes on. Google is a great place to start. The prices are good right now in the states
as well because of their economy. We also share the same antique status so most do
ship flintlocks with no issue.

I did not realize that. So there will be no issues or red tape shipping a .50 cal flinter up from the states?

No problems with a flint or percussion long gun or M/L pistol kit from the USA - have done many over the past 5 years. They ship US Parcel Post and it will come to your nearest postal depot where you pick it up and sometimes have to pay GST. No border broker fees at all. Check out Track of the Wolf, Pecatonica River and Muzzle Loader Builders Supply. I've had nothing but excellent service from them all. Delivery is usually about 3 weeks.

G-Force:
When you phone the CFC to initiate a M/L registration they will want to know barrel length and barrel maker (Green Mtn, etc.). Tell them it is "home made" from the parts you bought or made and they will subsequently send you a Firearm Identification Number - the CFC equivalent of a manufacture's serial number. I normally stamp the F.I.N. on the bottom flat of the barrel under the breech rather than use the little sticker they provide. Of course flintlock long guns do not require registration, only all new pistols and percussion rifles. The CFC process is the same for all except that if you don't yet have a conveyance permit for handguns, the provincial CFO will hold up the handgun approval until you get that piece of paper too. My recent experience in Alberta. No problem at all getting M/L pistol and rifle components sent here from the USA.
