Where to buy bulk ammo?

Who is the cheapest as far as GOOD .40 S&W goes for my Glock 22?

Also, hoping to pick-up a G19 soon so any vendors that sell 9mm that works well with G19 would be nice too.

At my local gun store they quoted me 10% off orders of 500. Which is okay for the convenience of not having to go the gun store when I need ammo for a while but really, i'm only saving one box of ammo so, i'm thinking of going the distance and buying 1000+ rounds.
 
I guess it all depends on where you are? If you order ammo and have it shipped to you the shipping is really expensive... I was considering have some ammo shipped with another order and for 1case it was about $50.00 and if I got 3 cases it was around $90.00...so unless I can get a screamin` deal, for me its not worth getting it shipped to me.

Yea, but not at the price I was hoping for. Save 10% on buying 100 boxes of ammo. Also, apparently the prices are going up over at Al Simmons too (as the owner/manager? keeps telling me).

I'm just wondering if anyone has a great source for their ammo that is cheaper then the norm. I mean right now taxes in I pay 19.32 a box of 50 .40 S&W Federal rounds.
 
Yes, prices are going up and will keep going up and I doubt our dollar won't affect anything for a little bit as the retailers are still selling off old stock which they bought at a higher price.

If you want cheap ammo spend your money on a press and start reloading. You can get started for $300 with a nice press.

:agree: You can't really shoot huge volumes (10,000 +) without reloading, in fact "saving money" isn't really a reason to reload UNLESS you're shooting huge volumes.
 
You do save some money... but for me and many others that goes towards upgrades for the press such as case feeders, bullet feeders or other nice accessories or just the standard greed for more bullets, powders and primers.

See I used to stockpile my rounds when I only used one powder, but recently I started using Win231 as I can use a lower charge for the same results as HS6 and get more loads per pound, but yesterday I bought a LB of Titegroup see what all the hub bub was about. I cant load up a few thousand rounds like I used to as now I have to experiment around with different loads before commiting my last thousand bullets to one load. Two hundred here, two hundred there.... bah. :rolleyes:

And yes, if you shoot over 2k rounds per month, hell even 500 its cheaper to reload in the long run.

He could, but after taxes and shipping it would be more like $350 shipped to his door which he could spend on reloading gear.

ETA after taxes and shipping it works out to 17.50 a box which is less than hes paying for Federal.
 
Lebaron advertises Winchester white box 40 S&W 165gr at $30.27 per 100. With tax it is about what you are paying for the Federal.

But I can guarantee they don't have any in stock.

Bottom line is you are still going to pay about $17 a box inc tax, wherever you go unless you reload with plain lead.

Yup for 350 he could put a real good dent in the cost of an SDB...

used brass he probably has or can get pretty cheap..

17 for powder
35 for primers
120 for bullets and
couple hours of his time and presto , alakazam
he has 1000 rounds


He'll also need a tumbler, scale and calipers ($29 at CT)

Wolverine dosen't have stock on something I want. Do you think they will sell it to me for less than the price they have listed (that they made up last year)...even though the current rate is 10 cents better..... I should save $150 on a $1500 usd item compared to last year....

Nope. They will just pocket the difference. No saving due to the dollar will be passed on to us.
 
HUNH!? Guys, i have been using the Combat masters .40 ammo at 175pf. It is a 180gr montana headed ammunition. As far as I know, it is the best price out there, even with shipping. If you order in bulk (ie: 5000+) you may get a better deal. Just don't call him with an order for 200-500rds,.....that type of order gets put to the backburner, as he deals in mass quantities.
My last order was 10,000 9mm 147gr at 134pf, + 2800 of .40 180gr at 175pf. I have had no problems. I have shot perhaps 2000 .40 thru my stock STI Edge, (last Christmas order, + some of this years order)....no problems! Accurate, reliable.
