So I've been wanting one of these for a little while, but they never seem to be in stock on the Dlask website. Is my only chance at getting one of these catching one on the EE? There seems to be several people looking for them.

A factory Remington 14" barrel would work as well, but I don't know where to find these either. I'm sure if I asked my local gunshop they could order one in, but I would really like a 3" chamber.

I find the 12" barrels to be too short.

Any suggestions?

Mitch

I just bought the last one on Thusday. They make them fairly regularily, and they never seem to list them on their websight. Best bet is to actually order one and wait it out, and keep an eye on the EE in the mean time

Probably.

IMO all these thick 870 barrels are ridiculous, be it the Dlask, Police or Express.

Basic 870s should weigh in under 7 lbs empty as they did with the original barrel profiles.

Throw on one of these boat anchor heavy barrels on and you're probably getting closer to 8 lbs, and it'll feel even heavier than that due to the muzzle heaviness.

I had no idea these would be that heavy. The whole reason I want the 14" is for portability, so if it wieghs as much as you say then maybe I should consider other options.

Is cutting down a 3" chambered barrel a reasonable alternative? Will I really be saving that much weight?

The other option would be a factory 14" Remington barrel. Anybody know where to order these online?

Mitch

You can't get one, not from the states anyway. The remingtons are few and far between and run at least $300 used. Dlask wants $299 for his. And of the aftermarket barrels they are by far the best, although they are thicker than they need to be. Are you looking at a 20lb gun, not at all. They are heavier but not that bad. I think Casey had a couple of remingtons that have had the full Vang comp treatment but I believe he is looking $500ish for them

Yeah they really are heavy, and front-heavy at that.

Some folks love that for recoil control, but I like light weight, lively handling and prefer to absorb recoil via push-pull muscle tension, and having a bored out anvil sitting out in front of you is a detriment to all those things.

It's illegal to cut down a barrel to less than 18", they must be manufactured those lengths.

I don't know what profile the factory 14" Remingtons are but I suspect they're Police profile, even the Police is lighter than Dlask, but not by all that much.

Why not just buy a Fabarm 14" pump? Nice and light. Smooth action.
Replace the "loaf of bread" fore-grip with a traditional one and you're good to go!

I hadn't even considered one of these. Seems some of the models available are exactly what I'm looking for. Although a little pricy.

Originally I was trying to have one shotgun for everything as I'm space limited at the moment. Looks like the wingmaster will remain un-molested for the time being.

Thanks!

If you're near Target Sports anytime soon....I saw about a half dozen of the 14" Fabarms today.
I believe they were the SDASS Trainers with a heat shield and in black or nickel finish.
Probably best to call them....

Stay away from Fabarms (in my opinion at least). I saw a new one with rusted fore end bars (action bars), a 14" Martial Pro Forces as far as I remember.
Just my two cents.

I ordered mine last Thursday I believe and had it in my hands this past Wednesday, So basically a week from order to my hands in Ont. I got an answer to my initial e mail the same day, although I have heard that isn't always the case. They do answer the phone however. Once they confirmed to me they actually had one in stock I phoned in the order (I will not give my credit card info via e mail and since the barrels aren't listed on their web site you can't order one from it. I am very happy with the fit and finish on mine and don't find the weight differance to be the horror that some people make them out to be. On the plus side the extra thickness on the barrel makes them ideal to have Rem chokes installed.
