where to buy MAX-TRAP

Uh... how 'bout the first hit? (ie: MGM Targets)
The snapper target from MGM is not a Max Trap - similar but not.

While both present a target for a short duration before covering them, the Max-Trap is far simpler using weight instead of springs and has less moving parts.

I've got a few of these snappers. As soon as the springs see moisture of any kind, they deteriorate and become unpredictable.
They're also affected by wind way more than a Max-Trap.

I'm watching this thread to see where the max-traps come from too.

Here's a a couple that were in stage 2 of the BC Provincials - ~ the 20 second mark. The scoring target and no-shoot are both up at that start. When activated by a popper, the no-shoot falls forward. As it falls forward, it drops a weight and swings back up to cover the target. They are much more reliable than clam shells.

What I have found out is that the original mfg of the max traps is no longer in business. I have searched the web high and low but no success. The person who made them for BC might make them again but needs orders for 20 + first . If there is a club /person out there what has one for sale I would like to buy it and I can reverse engineer it and build some . Send me a PM id you have one for sale.
Thanks to all for your inputs
Rob

We have some at my club, but we want to keep them all lol. I'll see if I can do a CAD model up for you or find who has the plans.

Maybe he could borrow one and repay with a few new ones for your trouble??

Be a bit of a pain to get it too him. I do CAD and manufacturing drawings for a living so it's easier for me to spend a couple hours do that and email it. I'll post the PDFs up for everyone and see what kind of price the place I work at will make them for people.

I found the fellow in the Okanagon that makes them and they are guaranteed to be IPSC approved ;) He's willing to make another batch if we can get ~12 pre-sold. The last batch he made was $300 each, which is about 1/2 the price of ordering from the US. I'm working with Robert - he's going to poll the other Island ranges to see how many they are interested in. If anyone else is interested in getting some, let me know.

I'm not sure if something could be worked out to ship some to those of us in Ontario, but I'd be interested in a couple.

I checked and he can ship to Ontario, at your cost of course.

The person making them is Nick King (he said it was ok to mention his name here). So you know they will be well built and IPSC compliant :)

Anyone interested, send me a PM as I'll keep track so we know when we reach the 12 he needs presold to start the next batch.
