Im about to order my r700 5r mil spec and i need some decent glass to go with it. Im fairly new to long shooting so i have no idea where to look for some decent glass or what fair pricing is like.

In Canada, you're in luck! We've got plenty of places to buy decent glass. There's Apple, Admiral, and Standard to name a few. I'm partial to Speedy myself, great bunch to deal with.

plain sight solutions is a dealer here at CGN. give him a PM and he can answer your question. i guess you should also have a set budget for your optics.

Blahaha(choke a bit on coffee)haha(snort)hehe

(I just laughed out loud like a total doofus & now people are staring at me...)

You are in Calgary so you can head to Alberta Tactical Rifle and see for yourself. They will set you up there and have most of the best brands. Leupold, Sightron, Vortex, Scmidt and Bender and Nightforce. Price range can be huge I have never even seen a Sightron but hear good things they can be purchased in the 800 range, see Mystic Precision Website, Leupold Mark 4 1400 and up, Nightforce will run from about 1600 and up.

Best thing would be to go down there and talk to staff about all the different scopes, pros and cons, price and look through a few of them.

If you're someone like me who will spend a boatload more than you really want to spend then don't look through the scopes that are worth more than your rifle.

There are many options. Sightron seems to be a good scope for a good price, much cheaper than a Nightforce for example (not sure if the quality is the same). Talk to Jerry at Mystic Precision. He will shoot you straight on the quality and the prices seem good.

I decided to try a Sightron this time around. I just ordered a 8-32x56 LR MOA from Mystic Precision. Jerry Teo seems to be a great guy to deal with.

I'm also using some Vortex Vipers. They seem to be great for the money. I have a 6.5-20x50 and it seems to work just fine. Tracks very nicely. My girlfriend has a Viper PST 6-24-50 MOA SFP on her Savage M12 benchrest and its proving to be great also.

Good luck getting a Viper PST though. Mines been on back order for 8 or so months. My girlfriends took about 5 months to come in.

Your best bet is buying something that is in stock at a Canadian dealer.

X2 on plain sight solutions, Omer gave me a great deal on a S&B PM II, knowledgeable and very helpful. Thanks again Omer.

Omer is a good guy. I just bought a Swaro X3 from him and got a Leica 1600 from him earlier this year.

I found his prices were very competitive and I've been very happy with his service.
