I'm considering asking Jo at PO, or Mark at Questar...
I need to pick up a G17 OEM barrel.
Is it a ##### to send in my old one to Glock Canada (if there is one) and get a replacement with the same serial?

I posted a WTB but I guess everybody wants to keep theirs..
I also want to have the same serial if possible, and I think the only way is to buy a replacement from factory?

Anybody have experience with this?

OK here''s the gist as much as I can gather that seems logical.
an FMJ bullet got lodged 1/2way up the barrel as a result of an improperly charged round. Anther round got chambered, fired. the resulting bullet on bullet impact caused a small bulge in the barrel.
Operator Error because I had taught my brother in law (a little bit on the slow side) how to reload and wanted him to take those rounds and shoot it. To teach him the value of spending what you earn (using only what you got as a result of hard work). Anyways, I'm guessing he forgot a step in this particular reload and didn't charge the powder before pressing the bullet in. The resulting strike had only enough presssure to send the bullet halfway down the barrel.
Anyhow. I've stripped and cleaned down the rest of the gun and all is well.
I'm kicking myself because I should of been paying more attention to him.
I was watching but from behind. He knew his IA and stoppages drills so he just racked another round in, and shot. I should of known something was up when the slide did not cycle.

Subsequently, I have re-weighed all the bullets he made. that was the only anomaly.
I think both he and I learned a great lesson. yes yes I know we're lucky.

####ty deal, I'll let you shoot my CZ when I come by, could also have some Stag AR fun and M305 too if you want. I'm just not gonna carry all that stuff on the ferry though

Correct me if I am wrong, but the s/n on the barrel (if any) does not need to match the s/n on the receiver (frame). The receiver is the part of the pistol that is registered, not the barrel.

Yes, but when time comes to sell, for other goodies, would it not be worth more if it has all the same serial.
