Where to buy single shot nowadays?

Don’t mistake me for a Turkish shotgun hater, but I don’t think there is a decent Turkish single shot on the market.
People in general aren’t willing to pay what a good single would cost, so they don’t make a good single.
In fact it’s a very neglected segment of the market, Turkey or not.

The problem is perception: people think a single shot should be cheaper than a pump, when making a good break action single shot should probably cost at least as much IMO

Why? It's a single tube. It doesn't have the engineering challenge of a double barrel making sure the two tubes shoot point of aim, nor is it as mechanically complex as a pump or semi. Change my mind.

And stay away from the single shot Turkish guns. They're very light which means anything more than birdshot will smash your hand in the trigger guard and rattle your teeth. They were pleasant to shoot with black powder though. Speaking from personal experience.

The tolerances still have to be tighter than a pump. Slide action shotguns are very forgiving on tolerances so there is room for error and cheap guns that cut corners end up working anyway.
Many of the things that make double guns expensive also make break action single shots expensive. The only thing you save money on is not needing to regulate two barrels. The break open action, and it’s trigger system, are not made for cost cutting. This is why good doubles (or singles) can go more than 100,000 shells before a rebuild, but cheap ones break before 1000, and even if they don’t, they are shot loose before 10,000.

Single shot bolt actions would be the true working man’s gun, and could be both good and cheap. The Turks could make one that lasts 50,000 shells for 250$. But nobody wants those. The old ones used to be popular but but now you can’t even give them away.
